COME CHECK OUT THE "NEW STUFF", BUT PLEASE DON'T CROSS THE FENCES! - Ed.

Greetings!
What is the relevance and significance of Rudolf Steiner today? To find some answers, I have been having several conversations with readers and learning (alot!!!) about their views and experiences. Here are some impressions of what I heard.
* We are not yet human beings. Although we are highly evolved biologically, we have scarcely begun to become human. Can we now begin to see the 'higher human' in each other?
* Can we challenge the dictates of modern science without abandoning science? If we don't learn how to do this, anthroposophy will become a religion. * The price of freedom: The corporate financial sector appears to be 110% focused on materialistic and selfish ends. If you are looking, however, you will see people working there who have moral intention and clear direction. We should be thankful they are there. * Lawren Harris was a great painter who became interested in Theosophy, and some would say that this event marked the end of his creative period. How often does this happen to people who become interested in Anthroposophy? * Cult members often feel a sense of timelessness. Their 'eternal verities' are in fact creatures of a temporal brain, and these people can quickly become prisoners of time.
I am looking forward to many more conversations in the weeks ahead.
Sincerely,
Mark Anthroposophical Society |

Regine Kurek - Founder of Arscura
| |
Regine Kurek, Arscura's founder, holds a degree in anthroposophical Art Therapy from the Kunststudientstatte, Ottersberg, Germany, and a diploma in Biographical Counselling from the Goetheanum, Switzerland. She has worked for many years as an artist, therapist, and adult educator in Canada, United States, and Europe. In 1989, she established Arscura. She is also a coordinator of the international network of the Tobias School of Art (UK) for the research of art in the healing and social fields. Arscura's 4th-year program is fully subscribed in 2010, and this is a strong indicator of Regine's success as a teacher and leader. For details about other Arscura faculty, click here.

CONVERGENCE Education Conference
| Allison Hudgins |
CONVERGENCE: Scientific support for the wisdom of Waldorf Education...A conference for everyone interested in a radical and relevant education of children.
This conference is dedicated to the late Allison Hudgins. In 2008 Allison attended a conference in the U.S.A. that startlingly revealed how new scientific research was echoing work and ideas that Steiner had first launched a century earlier. Diana Hughes asked her to collaborate on a conference that would bring the latest research to the Waldorf communities, and go beyond that to meet the growing public that is interested in the needs of education today. Allison died in March of this year.November 5 - 6 , 2010. Keynote talks by Douglas Gerwin and Patrice Maynard, and ten workshops.

The Mystery of Fire & Rose
The rose is an eternal image of beauty and love, representative of an open heart. Fire is associated with inspiration, revelation and the descent of Holy Spirit. T.S. Eliot predicted that all would be well when the fire and the rose are one. Drawing on her memorized repertoire of poems and songs, Treasa leads participants in an interactive, meditative reflection on the theme that includes writing exercises. (Bring pen and paper and, if you like, a poem of your own.)
Saturday, November 27, 1.00-5.00 pm in Barrie. Click here, and scroll down the page for details. |

The Spiritual Reality of Money
| Doug Wylie | It is no longer gold, and it is no longer paper, so what is it? Clearly its misuse causes societal illnesses. How then can money become healthy?
Rudolf Steiner offered an abundance of both cognitive and practical guidance regarding money, hitherto mostly unknown. This conference is an opportunity to learn about a few of his observations.
This conference features talks by Daniel Hafner and Douglas Wylie. 12-14 November, 2010 at the Christian Community. Details.

Dalai Lama Inspires Local Buttons
| |
"...The Dalai Lama spoke of the importance of the 'spirit of dialogue' and how this human approach is the way to heal the world's wounds...With this renewed desire to evoke the spirit of dialogue, we [are preparing] to leave for our trip to Haiti. We will continue to engage in constant dialogue with those around us in Toronto, and land in Haiti with open ears and warm hearts, listening intently to what people tell us is needed to create the most ethical line of clothing possible" Click here to read the full post by Consuelo McAlister on the Local Buttons blog.
