Thornhill Campus Bulletin
March 2010
9100 Bathurst Campus
Dear ,

Heavy equipment is rumbling outside, and the ground is being opened to receive our new building.  If you are planning to visit, keep your distance from the dozers and watch out for mud!

The Hesperus expansion is part of a much larger story. The continuing growth of the "multi-cultural cluster" on Bathurst St. is providing much-needed  balance to the intensive commercial development across York Region.  Altogether, Ner Israel Yeshiva, the Ja'ffari Community Centre and our campus have taken 100+ acres off the market and dedicated them to cultural and spiritual purposes. And just north of us, the Lebovic campus (see picture below) is using another 40 acres for similar goals.

In this Bulletin, we keep you informed of activities on our campus that may be of interest to the broader community.  (Some off-campus items are also included.)

Please don't hesitate to contact me anytime if you have questions or suggestions.

SPIRITUAL PRACTICES for Parents and Teachers
Warren- With Warren Lee Cohen, Director of Waldorf Teacher Education at the Rudolf Steiner Centre.

In this experiential week we will discuss and practice methods of spiritual deepening that can support parents and teachers in meeting daily challenges and developing their own meditative practices. We will begin by building a gateway of gratitude and then do a series of seven soul-harmonizing exercises developed by Rudolf Steiner. We will practice meditation from various traditions, including in nature, and reflect upon the potential and challenges they offer.

We will dedicate the second half of our morning to modeling in clay as a means of entering with our senses into the quiet language of form. All materials will be provided.

Monday to Friday May 3 to 7 2010, 9:00 am to 12:30 pm.  Fee $250 and $175 concession.

Toward a Culture of Peace - A weekend in Barrie with Michael Lipson
Lipson
"Our world is governed by inner and outer hostilities. Today, the world's precious resources of water, oil, air and arable land are only growing scarcer -- giving more cause for conflict.
Unless....Unless we develop a consciousness of peace and mutual gift-giving.
Peace, however, depends not only on concord between humans, or between humans and the kingdoms of nature.  It requires concord between human beings and the heavens.  We can go beyond resources to the very Source...Let us spend a weekend discovering the deep well-spring of generosity we can access within. Let us go beyond  resources-to the very Source itself. The way is through group discussion and group meditation.  Using words, we can access the place before words, where we are truly at one."

1:00pm Saturday March 27, to 3:00pm Sunday March 28.     Cost: $150.  Details: E-mail Treasa O'Driscoll, or visit The Novalis Project.

NOTE: This event will be held at 87 Toronto St. in Barrie.
