COME CHECK OUT THE "NEW STUFF", BUT PLEASE DON'T CROSS THE FENCES! - Ed.
Greetings!

In his book, "Shaping Globalization". Nicanor Perlas introduces the concept of  "liminality" (from the Latin word "limen" meaning "threshold").  The message, as I understand it, is that advancing civilizations do everything in their power to LEARN FROM marginalized constituents, rather than trying to assimilate (anesthetize?) them.

York Region has an affluent population, but alienation, disease, crime and poverty will not be cured by more affluence.  Sometimes, we need to leave our "comfort zone" and cross the threshold.

Several of the items in this issue relate to this theme.

Sincerely,

Mark

Waldorf For Africa
Waldorf Africa1Waldorf Africa2How can we respond to the needs of children in Africa?  Here is one example:

"Our challenge is that with all the negative news coming out of Africa, it is most important to share about Africa's beautiful side, the stories of people and projects that are effective and successful so we are enticed and encouraged to continue to help educate thousands of children and prospective teachers in new ways all over Africa...'  Visit the Waldorf For Africa website for the full story.

This conference features talks by Daniel Hafner and Douglas Wylie.  12-14 November, 2010 at the Christian Community.  Details.
