The first week at Lutheran High North brought many smiling faces back to our campus. As we welcomed new and returning students, our 2011-2012 school theme is being demonstrated daily.

We're excited to distribute student iPads beginning Thursday, August 25th.  Here's the information you need to know.  On Thursday, August 25th, we invite all students whose last names begin with A through M to attend.  Please arrive promptly at either 5pm or 6pm and expect approximately one hour of orientation during distribution.  Students whose last names begin with N through Z should plan to arrive at 5pm or 6pm on Friday, August 26th.  Parents and students who cannot make their scheduled date can attend on Saturday, August 28th (3pm, 4pm, 5pm, and 6pm), or switch their Thursday/Friday assignment with special approval.  Attendance at one of the three sessions is mandatory.  If you are unable to attend, please contact Mr.Brent Neal. 

Everything will be provided at the sessions, and we encourage students to join us for the football home game on Friday and the back to school dance on Saturday after the distribution sessions.

Glory Giver Auditions

Auditions for Glory Givers will take place on Monday and Tuesday, August 22nd ands 23rd at 3:00pm in the choir room.  Students should sign up for a time on the list posted on the music office door.  Auditioners will sign individually from familiar section we have been working on in class.  Students will wait in the hall while individuals are auditioning.  Each audition will take about 5-6 minutes. 

The first rehearsal will be Monday, August 29th at 3:00pm.

Do you like drama? Music? Staging, lights and sound? Costumes and makeup? Come to our first ever drama/musical planning meeting on Wednesday night, August 31, at 6:00 pm in the brand new Student Learning Center. Hear about our plans for a dinner theater on October 15 in conjunction with our Fall Comedy scheduled for October 15 and 16. Get in on the ground floor as we gear up for our annual Spring Musical on April 27 and 28. Join the new Drama Club and join us for monthly outings to local area theaters.

Big things are happening in the Drama Department at Lutheran High North! Bring your questions and enthusiasm to the parent and student meeting on Wednesday night, August 31, at 6:00 pm. 

Auditions for Fall Comedy will be held Thursday, September 1st

We have a wonderful comedy selected for you as this year's Fall Drama, scheduled for performance on Saturday and Sunday, October 15 and 16. All we need is 10-13 talented and  eager students willing to spend their time and energy to put it all together. Mrs. Vicky Harkrider will direct this year's fall comedy, and Mrs. Mary Kay Buehler and her LHN choir students will provide pre-show entertainment for a dinner theater performance on Saturday, October 15. We have a lot of flexibility in scheduling rehearsals this year, everything from small parts to large (and multiple parts) are possibilities. So come on out and give it a try!

Let Mr. Stuenkel know if you are interested in auditioning for the fall show, or just show up for auditions on Thursday, September 1. Call backs will be the next day, Friday, September 2.

Spring Break Foreign Trip 2012!

Because we are all tightening our belts when it comes to budgets these days, Great Clips at The Shops at Oak Forest is excited to partner with Lutheran High North to make it easy for you to give back without adding another expense to your family's budget.

All you need to do is get your haircut at Great Clips-something that was already on your list of regular expenses-and then give your receipt to Lutheran High North. Great Clips has committed to making a donation to Lutheran High North equal to 10 percent of all receipts submitted.

 Our ever helpful front office staff Mrs. Jill Runge and Mrs. Elaine Gumtow will be splitting the school day this year.  Mrs. Gumtow will be in the front office from 7:00am until 12:00pm and Mrs. Runge will be in the office from 11:30am until 4:30pm.  

To help reduce the amount of calls that they have to handle during the day, LHN faculty and staff now have DIRECT LINES.  You may reach each faculty/staff member at their direct line and also leave a voicemail for them.
