Making News...
6/04: FDA defeated in federal court over censorship of truthful health claims (NaturalNews) Health freedom has just been handed a significant victory by the United States District Court for the District of Columbia, which ruled last week that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) violated the First Amendment rights of a nutritional supplement company when it censored truthful, scientifically-backed claims about how selenium can help reduce the risk of cancer.___________________

Dog Joke
(I couldn't resist)
A dog goes into Western Union and says, "Woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof woof." The Clerk diligently writes it down, looks at the dog and says "We have a promo going on today, ten words for the price of nine. Shall I add one more woof?" The dog replies, "Then it wouldn't make any sense would it?"

Is This Interview Worth An Hour of Your Time??
In December, 2009, Dr. Nara was interviewed on Patrick Timpone's One Radio Network. I got a lot of good feedback from it and decided to call attention to it again.
"...The call was last Thursday, December
3, this is Wednesday. The abscess has settled down, ALL of the hot/cold
sensitivity is gone from all my teeth. I know I have a ways to go but
this is the first time I have actually had progress..."
We invite you to listen now..

Greetings! Welcome to another OraMedia Newsletter. (If the formatting of this email makes the text crowded and run to the edges, please click the link above: "Having trouble
viewing this email?
Click here". Some email programs may not display properly.) Gosh! It seems like just yesterday that Miss Viola was wringing her hands and worrying that nothing in the garden was going to grow. Well, things happen quickly when Spring hits South Carolina... ...a month later we have more delicious food than we know what to do with! Well, we DO know what to do with it and much of it gets eaten before it arrives into the house.
Certainly, a lot of time goes into a good garden, but never boring. I recall, for instance, last season when one of these little buggers jumped out of a big bag of greens we sent home with my mother and father:
I don't imagine that they got the same kick out of it that we did, but we're dealing with these guys all the time - normally, rescue operations from their dealings with several of our 14 feline 'garden-terrorists.'
So, right, this newsletter is supposed to be about teeth and in large part, good nutrition has its role in the health of our teeth and gums - just as poor nutrition does. Then again, it is imperative that we incorporate nutrition with hygiene, our view on oral health as a whole, our options, knowledge of the teeth and gums including the biological balance, financial aspect and of course being able to stay motivated to stay on course. (Pain can be a great motivator, but why wait until things get that bad?)
On with it.

You Have Options for Your Teeth! Jeanne GrunertI used to be a very black and white thinker. I thought there was
only one solution to a problem. When you needed an answer, you consulted
an expert and did whatever he or she said to do. The problem with such thinking is that life is full of shades of gray. Almost nothing in life has black and white certainty. To paraphrase Benjamin Franklin, "In this world nothing is certain but death and taxes." This Option? | Yet when it comes to our dental options, most people give you a blank stare when you try to talk to them about their options. Some things are certain. You will get cavities and sometime later, need a root canal or crown (cap). Eventually, teeth need extraction. Old people always have dentures. It's just the way things are. What if we told you that it doesn't have to be like this?or This Option...? | You have options that extend beyond drilling, filling and pulling. You have the option of learning how to care for your teeth so that they can last a lifetime! Sounds impossible? Many things were once thought impossible. Turn the clock back 100 years, and space flight was thought only a fancy of imagination. Turn the clock back 200 years, and the concept of affordable airplane travel, electricity, movies, mass produced clothing, woman's right to vote and many other concepts would have been demanded "impossible to do." My dad was born in the early 1920's, at a time when polio was the scourge of his youth. He remembers pictures of children in iron lungs, condemned to a lifetime trapped in those breathing machines, when polio epidemics swept New York City. What were the options? If medical science had given up seeking a cure for polio, we'd accept as the norm that every so often, a terrible disease sweeps through the population, condemning our children to a living hell. We'd accept doctors carrying around portable respirators and iron lungs and think, well, that's just the way thing are. But it's not how things have to be, and Drs. Salk and Sabin worked tirelessly until they discovered the root cause of polio and created a vaccine to prevent it. You see, society didn't accept the "inevitable outcome" of lives ruined or ended. Researchers believed in an outcome other than paralyzed children and adults. It took decades, but a cure was found. You have options beyond drill, fill, root canal and extraction. Dental disease can be stopped or reversed at almost any stage of the process. We know what causes many of the typical problems! Poor diet, poor hygiene, and unbalanced biological factors contribute to many common oral problems. But when you know what causes something, you also know what steps to take to prevent or fix it. You have options. You can take charge of your oral health. It takes a bit of practice, but it's not impossible. Start today, take a few steps, and take more. Soon, you'll wonder why you ever believed it to be impossible. For more about this important topic, visit Mizar5.com

Is the Fluoridation of Your Drinking Water Actually a Violation?
You may have see this article by NaturalNews' Mike Adams this past Wednesday, but if you didn't please read on. The issue of the mandatory fluoridation of our drinking water ties in nicely with the article in the last OraMedia Newsletter regarding the ban that the FDA has placed on health claims made by companies promoting healthy foods such as walnuts and cherries. When a claim that a particular food has the health benefit of treatment or prevention of a disease, say the FDA, then that 'food' is considered a drug - since only drugs are indicated for treatment and prevention, according to the Food and Drug Administration... In the case of Diamond Foods' promoting the health benefits of walnuts, the FDA says that the
walnuts are being "promoted for conditions that cause them to be drugs
because these products are intended for use in the prevention,
mitigation, and treatment of disease."Mike Adams Turns the Tables...Now if this the case, wouldn't the fluoridation of our drinking water supplies - for the prevention of dental caries - be a violation of federal law, as well? Adams writes:"What's interesting here is that this biological effect of "preventing cavities" is a medical claim, according to the FDA. And as such, making this claim instantly and automatically transforms fluoride into a "drug" under currently FDA regulations.
"This means that cities and towns all across America are now practicing medicine without a license by dripping liquid medication into the public water supply without the consent of those who are swallowing the medication.
"If you or I did this, we would be arrested and tried as either terrorists (because contaminating the water supply is an act of terrorism) or felons practicing medicine without a license. So what allows cities and towns to get away with these very same crimes?"
One might argue that the cities and towns have the endorsement of the American Dental Association or some such, which gives them the legal authority to spike the water supply. The question then arises, "What is the exact prescription? How do we know how much fluoride-laden water to drink in order to 'prevent cavities'? Is a two-year-old girl prescribed the same as a thirty-year-old man? How about a ninety-year old man without teeth at all - What benefit is there for him?" Sounds sort of like sloppy prescribing and administration, doesn't it? Further, if fluoride actually aids in the remineralization process, I believe that it must be applied topically in order to be effective. Does it actually work systemically? In one of his books, I recall Dr Nara stating that the amount of fluoride actually allowed to be present in our drinking water would not be nearly enough to be of any benefit in the prevention of caries (the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention sets the guideline at 4 parts per million). Does people from the federal government stand there daily and oversee that procedure at the water treatment plant(s)? No. The treatment facilities merely have to state that they adhere to the guidelines... Please read Mike's article: Why the fluoridation of public water supplies is illegalThis good news may change things...6/4/10 FDA defeated in federal court over censorship of truthful health claims-Tom |

How Microbes Can Clean Up After an Oil Spill Good for your teeth & body... Could certain bacteria strains remove oil from our waters?
Even though this may have nothing to do with oral health I felt compelled to share this information with you and hope that you will pass it on to others. Don't ask me when, but I recall hearing about this many years ago: A company out of Jacksonville, FL which produces a strain of bacteria that actually EATS oil, produces a by-product that shrimp eat, then quietly dies off after the job is done! Apparently, this company has a good track record, too! Is it being utilized? If not, WHY??
Thanks to Linda 'Granny Warrior' Hunnicut for bringing this to my attention.
She says, "After watching the video below,
if you are not infuriated then you are already dead. Why
has this been ignored? Yes I know why - but question the
lack of anger being heard from the people of this
country..." Watch UltraTech video showing
microbes in action on tanker spill. For more information go to
