First AFT Practice

The 2015 American Farrier's Team held their first practice on Friday, April 24 and Saturday, April 25 at the Kentucky Horse Park farrier shop during the Rolex Kentucky 3-Day Event. According to AFT Manager Conrad Trow, CJF, the team had a very good practice. A HUGE thank you to KHP farrier John Veague for letting the team use his shop!

Monetta Farrier Specialties Spring Fling

The annual Spring Fling was a huge success at Monetta Farrier Specialties, Inc. The clinicians touched on almost every topic imaginable. The new owners, Alan Berardo and Collins Daye, gave a touching speech at the end of the day recognizing the Schwarz family for all their hard work in building the business into what it is today. Being there you definitely felt more like a family member than just a friend. There were four items made by clinicians during the three day span of the clinics. Conrad Trow, CJF, made a French hind while Jim Poor, CJF, made a frame for it and Roy Bloom, CJF, made ornamental leaves that were attached. Jim Poor, CJF, and Roy Bloom, CJF, made a fuller. Grant Moon, CJF, AWCF, made a front light draft, and a roadster. At the end of the clinic Saturday in typical fashion, Jack, Sarah, and Emily Schwarz-Bull decided to auction these items and donate 100% of the proceeds to the Injured Farriers Fund for the SCFA. These items brought in a total of just over $1,000!!! The Schwarz family has been the backbone of the SCFA for over 20 years. We cannot thank you enough for your time and the dedication you have provided.
Thank you!

Emerson Horseshoe Supply Clinic
Submitted by Rob Logsdon
I attended the Emerson Horseshoe Supply Clinic in Bossier, LA on Saturday, April 25, 2015. Mike Wildenstein, CJF, FWCF, was the clinician. He did a PowerPoint presentation before lunch and a live shoeing after lunch. Mike evaluated a horse with the farriers in attendance and modified the new Kerckhaert Ranger Lite shoes in the forge and with a grinder to suit the horse's needs. There were approximately 40 farriers in attendance and the Kerckhaert Ranger Lite and Ranger Lite rim shoes received much attention. We enjoyed some homemade Gumbo, banana pudding and bread pudding for lunch. Dilton, Pat and Ross Emerson did a fantastic job hosting the clinic and Farrier Product Distribution were appreciative of the opportunity to sponsor the event. We also got to see several B-52's fly over from the local Barksdale AFB.
Northern California Classic 30th Anniversary
