If you would like to write a small note to Bruce that could be read to him by his family, please send it to his son Tad at magictad@verizon.net. Please keep Bruce and his family in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.
Grant Moon Clinic
By Alan Dryg, CJF, DipWCF

On Sunday, November 23rd and Monday the 24th, Midwest Horseshoeing School hosted a hands-on clinic with Grant Moon, CJF, AWCF. Grant started with a comprehensive Power Point, discussing everything from the history of the farrier, to the current educational system in the United Kingdom. He touched on sole mapping and strategic trimming to minimize distortion. He finished with the conclusion that many fundamentals are honed by building shoes. From there, he quickly proceeded to put us to work to get an idea of our specific skills. After a quick assessment, he went over shoeing a foot and broke people down into areas of help he felt we needed. From there, he hit his stride and really started to work the room with great personal attention. Grant did numerous demos and tried to unify some lessons. He may be the hardest working clinician ever. He built many demo shoes and followed through with the lessons person to person.
There were many great take-aways from the two days and a wealth of hands-on education was provided to all of the participants Many thanks to Steve Sermersheim, CJF, TE, AWCF, and the Midwest Horseshoeing School for putting together a great educational opportunity in Illinois.
AWCF Examinations for 2015
The Kentucky Horseshoeing School will be hosting the 2015 USA AWCF Examinations at their campus in Richmond, Kentucky. The examination is scheduled for October 22-25, 2015. If you have a desire to take the exam (not just an interest) please call KHS. Due to WCF requirements, testing must be reserved and paid well in advance of examiner flight reservations, etc., so all arrangements can be made. Planning is critical for the AWCF so please understand that we are trying our best to facilitate this Exam. For information, testing outlines, and registration, please visit the WCF website at
http://www.wcf.org.uk/usahigher.php, or call Kentucky Horseshoeing School. A minimum of 20 modules must be registered in order to host the examination, so please DO NOT wait until the last minute. All registrations must be in and paid for through the Worshipful Company of Farriers website NO LATER THAN June 30, 2015. There will be bunk space available on a first-come, first-served basis at KHS for those wishing to stay on campus. Please be prepared to reserve your spot by the June 30, 2015. Updates, preparation clinics and schedules will be posted on the facebook page. Visit often so you don't miss vital information. https://www.facebook.com/KHSAwcf
