The San Diego Union Tribune broke news of acquisition talks between USC and Scripps. It is reported that USC--flush after passing the halfway mark in its $6 billion fundraising campaign--can offer Scripps financial security and lessen its reliance on NIH . Congratulations to Kite Pharma on a Successful IPO
The Santa Monica-based biotech raised $128 million in its IPO. Kite priced 7.5 million shares at $17 per share, compared to original plans to offer 6 million shares at between $12 and $14 per share. It will trade on the Nasdaq under ticker symbol KITE, with Jefferies, Credit Suisse and Cowen & Co. serving as lead underwriters. Kite's initial market cap is $632 million.
