Greetings!
Once the last note is sounded and the final marching step is taken at season's end, most members say good-by to old and new friends, pack their instrument, flag, rifle or baton until the following year.
You may be surprised that during the "off" season, your Rounder organization is still buzzing with activity. Your Board of Directors, the creative staff, committee leads, and many others, work tirelessly throughout the summer and fall preparing the endless details of making sure everything is ready for the first note at the reading session at NEHI in January.
By the time you have arrived at the first practice; routines have been prepared, music has been chosen, copied and collated, facilities have been contracted, registration materials are set, performances have been arranged, fundraisers set, plus a "million" other items too numerous to mention. Your Rounders have a wonderful group of leaders who give of themselves year-round to make t he Rounder experience stronger year after year.
This is particularly true this year with the added fun and responsibility of sponsoring nearly 400 people to Calgary this July for the Stampede. Hundreds of hours have been donated by your leadership to make this Canadian experience one of our best on record!
At the Christmas party December 18 or during our January reading session on January 4th (we hope you join us at both), please take time to thank your Board and the countless number of people who serve the Rounders year round. We are a unique organization, that remains unique and successful because of YOU and the people whose leadership makes it happen.
See you at the Holiday party!

| a Calgary Update! | | |
Our tour partner for Calgary, Music Festivals, is beginning to book YOUR flights to Calgary this week. If by chance you DID NOT send them your personal Travelers Form updates (what were you thinking??), these are mandatory and overdue. Please do so TODAY (see form link below). Any information regarding your personal variation in travel dates; air or land changes, etc, are now late and overdue to Music Festivals if you have not yet submitted your personal Travelers Form.
Also, per your trip payment schedule with Music Festivals, please make certain your account is CURRENT. Accounts not CURRENT will not yet be booked (airfare or hotel) and could be subject to additional changes in rate!
Your "Team Calgary" is busy finalizing micro trip plans and excursions. What an exceptional Rounders experience this is going to be! Final excursion options and pricing will be delivered in January at a "Special Session" for all Rounders scheduled for Tuesday, January 18 (location TBD). If you are going, or thinking of going to Calgary for the 2011 Stampede (It's not too late to join!), we encourage you to attend!.
Again, all Calgary participants must complete their personal Travelers Form and return it to Music Festivals IMMEDIATELY if you have not already done so.; especially if your personal travel plans have changed (dates, airfare, lodging).
Did we tell you that it's still NOT TOO LATE TO JOIN US IN CALGARY?? We'll have new members joining the parade this spring. We're also holding space for YOU!

| Calling All New Rounders!! | | |
Our 2011 season is upon us (really, it is!). We've already had some great FUN-draisers, with more on the way, and, considering the speed with which the Holiday season comes and goes, we'll be tuning and limbering-up in no time flat (well, ummmm...hopefully on-key).
The uniqueness of the Rounders in not only in our sound (and age...) but also in our size! We are ALWAYS LOOKING FOR NEW MEMBERS to join us not only for our regular performance season here in Florida, but also for our extended season this year in Calgary!!! We continue to look to you, our current members, to spread the word among your friends, family, co-workers, congregation members, corner grocer, mail delivery person.... or whomever, to let them know about the excitement of performing in a marching band...one more time!
We have prepared two brand new RECRUITING POSTERS which you can download, print, and post anywhere and everywhere possible, to get the ROUNDERS word out. Oh, and if you don't have access to a color printer, just contact us and we'll mail "hard-copies" directly to you. Our 2011 season recruitment posters can be found...right here.
RECRUITMENT POSTER LINK ONE.
RECRUITMENT POSTER LINK TWO.
One last note about Recruiting: please invite anyone interested to join us at the ST Petersbug Yacht Club (location might change...but the date won't) on Thursday, January 13 at 7PM or at any of our "FUNdraising" events as well! Once they look us over and see the great time we have (even when not performing) they could very well want to become part of the fun (who wouldn't???)...so please remember this as our "Roundup" and "Holiday meeting" approach. Keep this in mind next year as well, when the 'Spaghetti Dinner' and other yet-to-be scheduled events come up!! Recruitment never stops, and neither should we as well. Know a musician...sign 'em up! |
| Musical Petting Zoo | | | Another New Year's Eve...and another opportunity for the Rounders "MUSICAL PETTING ZOO." As part of St. Petersburg's Family Friendly New Year's celebration, your Rounders are again sponsoring our annual Musical Petting Zoo Friday, December 31 at Baywalk from 4:45-8:00 PM. All that's missing right now...is YOU!
Share your love of music with the children of St. Pete. Looking for volunteers to help children try out instruments, most for the first time, and incite their urge to join a band in their school. All instruments welcome but in particular please: Flutes, Clarinets, Saxophones, Trumpets, and Trombones.
Instruments are provided the only thing you need to bring...is YOU!
Friends, family, non-Rounders, all are also welcome to participate. In addition to helping t hese kids try an instrument for the first time, we also need
Volunteer's for crowd control (yes, it gets busy), as well as to help clean mouthpieces and control the giggles and smiles between tweets.
When the kids (and even their parents) "play" their first notes, they often provide BIG smiles. What a terrific way to kick off your New Year's Eve as you'll be smiling the rest of the night just thinking about them.
After the event, those who wish, consider joining us at Harvey's for a toast to the New Year and the future Rounders we just inspired. Volunteering? Contact Ted Barrett as soon as you can at: barrettandbarrett@earthlink.net or call him at 727.733-5012. |
