Greetings!

We're excited to be adding two new musical events to your Rounders 2011 performance calendar!  The first in confirmation of your Rounders participation in the Hernando DeSoto Grand bill canadian flagParade on Saturday, April 30th in Bradenton. This well attended parade moves our musical influence to yet another part of the greater Tampa Bay area and will be sure to influence new Rounders fans and potential members!  The parade is viewed by 150,000 and has 200 entries - the largest in Florida.   We will be the first musical unit in the parade and take buses from St. Pete.  A party will be planned on our return after the parade.

In addition, your Board is also pleased to announce the first-ever appearance of the Rounders at the Osceola High School Band Spring Concert on May 12th (a Thursday night).  We will be marching in and performing our field show music during the concert in the aisles, pit and stage of the auditorium and will    join with the Osceola band for a performance of Liberty Bell March, directed by their director, Mr. Don Edwards.

Osceola High School  has an excellent band and many of their band members are kids and relatives of several of our Rounders.  Our own J.F. Thomas was the first band director when Osceola opened almost thirty years ago (are you really getting that old J.F.?). An excellent chance to influence a new group of Rounders as these musicians from high school to college are looking for a place to play!

Mark your calendars now for May 12th when band participation knows no age at Osceola, and of course for the Hernando DeSoto Parade on April 30.

"FUN"draise at RAY JAY...

Your Second Time Arounders are working with the folks at Levy Restaurants at Raymond James Stadium to provide FUNdraising opportunities this season toward YOUR personal Calgary trip fees. reh pic 3

Sign up to work concessions with your fellow Rounders at a Tampa Bay Buccaneers game, a USF Bulls Football game, or one of a number of "Special Events" at RAY JAY (can you say "Outback Bowl" ?), and all monies earned by you for your efforts can go toward your Calgary Stampede trip next Summer!

Not going to Calgary? Well, maybe this fundraiser, with up to thirty dates available (30) may "FUN"d you to our growing Stampede participants list! Even if you aren't heading North with the band, funds earned through YOUR participation can be donated to the band's "general fund" in your name, or used to help another band member make the trip.

All volunteers with the Rounders make a percentage of stand revenue that will be "credited" to your band account and may be used as noted above. You can volunteer for oneconcessions event, a few, several, or for them all. A few additional details including potential schedule dates are included in the survey linked below.

CALLING ALL (NEW) ROUNDERS....AGAIN!

You may recall this is what we said in our newsletter LAST November.   Well, guess what??? We're BAAAAACK and excited to announce the kickoff of our 2010-2011 Recruitment and Retention campaign!

It's NEVER TOO EARLY to start talking to your friends, family, work associates, and "whomever", and get them interested in joining the Rounders! We know that many, many solid referrals come from YOU our current members and friends, so once again, we're asking you to help us!  Our regular season is taking shapeJameison and should be a great one... and, of course, we have Calgary to look forward to! (Although by no means is our post-season trip a requirement for new members!)

As with last year, you will again see increased presence and correspondence from the "R&R" committee, complete with our famous (or is that 'infamous'?) BLINKING WELCOME SIGN!  And, yes, just in case you were wondering, initial efforts have already begun to reschedule our highly successful "New Members Orientation" meeting again this season.  Our season will be upon us before you know it, so NOW IS THE TIME to start searching!!!  All we need from you is the candidates' names, how best to contact them, and we'll take it from there!!  Maybe YOU brochureremember how excited YOU were when you first joined...... well, now you can help spread that excitement to others!!!

HABLAS ESPANOL?  Part of our Recruiting efforts this year will be to reach out to ALL of the diverse communities throughout the state, Hispanic, African American and other, and to draw from their rich backgrounds.  So, if you speak Spanish and can help us translate our documents, or for that matter, if you have any ideas how we can recruit among ANY COMMUNITY (and can help us do so)... we need YOU!!!   LIKE...... RIGHT NOW!!!

So, why haven't we heard from you yet???? Oh, yeah.... here's how to get in touch with us (pick any option).....

-Zip out an e-mail to us at:   communications@secondtimearounders.org

-Zip out an e-mail to Dave Jamieson at: jamieson.rounder@gmail.com    -Give Dave a call at 727-421-0520 (maybe leave a message or not....who knows?)

Whichever method you chose, please put it to good use!   Whether you can TRANSLATE,  VOLUNTEER, or send us NEW CANDIDATES...WE WANT TO HEAR FROM YOU RIGHT AWAY!!!

That's all we have from the R&R desk for now, but we're just getting started!  More news is coming....so stay tuned, and THANKS!!!
