Thursday, March 18 2010
Greetings!

This Saturday your Rounders march and play before what will certainly be our largest audience of the season in New Port Richey at the Chasco Fiesta Parade. Logistical details are provided below. I hope everyone plans
bill
on attending to both perform and enjoy what will be an absolutely beautiful day and terrific parade in front of as many as 150,000 people!!

Just before the parade, we will play a concert in the City Park at 11:30. As reminder the music order is:

  • Swanee River Fanfare
  • Thunderbird March
  • Y.M.C.A.
  • Them Basses
  • Rhapsody in Blue
  • Get It On
  • Patriotic Salute
The parade route is a very manageable 1.5 miles. Please be in full uniform including your Rounders shirt and hat; your blue "Docker" style pants, a black or dark belt, white shoes (no markings) and white socks.

I wish you could have all seen what I saw at Admiral Farragut on Tuesday. Even in the cold weather you all looked and sounded great! Remember Saturday to walk proud...heel-to-toe, shoulders back, and instruments in a uniform position.

I hope you can all join us at Fergs after the event for our post parade party!
  See you Saturday!

Chasco Parade Saturday!!

If you are riding the bus:
bus
We will leave Tropicana Field Lot 6 at 10:00am SHARP. The bus is free for members and just $10.00 for tag-a-longs. As "stuff happens"...please plan on arriving between 9:30 and 9:45. 10:00am is our "close the doors" departure time. Sorry, we cannot wait for any stragglers. Give yourself time to park, load your instrument, and yourself. Don't miss the bus!

We will arrive in New Port Richey around 11:15am and will play a concert in the City Park at 11:30.

If you are driving:

Park near the end of the parade route at US-19 and Main Street New Port Richey. There is a lot of parking in that immediate area. If you choose to park at one of the shopping centers, please park at the back of the lot...away from the business doors. Businesses will be open.

Meet the band buses at the New Port Richey Chamber of Commerce building 5443 Main Street, New Port Richey. This is right at US-19 and Main Street. The buses should arrive by 11:15. YOU should plan on arriving no later than 10:45am as there are nearly 200,000 people expected for the parade and Fiesta that day...and there MAY be congestion even at that hour.

We will warm-up and play a concert in the City Park (Simms Park) at 11:30.

All Rounders:
After the thunderous applause from the concert...we will all board the buses (even those that drove)...possibly standing room only...and head to the start of the parade (a short ride). The Parade starts at 1:00PM and the Rounders are the second (and the largest) band...unit #20. We should finish by 2:00PM.

The parade ends near where the buses are parked...we will board the buses, and drivers their cars, and head back to Tropicana Field for a post parade party at Fergs. We should be back to Fergs between 3:15 and 3:30pm. Beer and Soda sponsored by the Rounders and food, of course, will be available.

You might want to bring a sandwich or a snack with you on the bus to tide you over to Fergs. There are numerous food vendors at the Fiesta...but our schedule and proximity to the vendors MIGHT prohibit a purchase prior to the parade start.

See you at the Parade!
