Founded in 1975, the British Association for Canadian Studies (BACS) is one of the member associations of the International Council for Canadian Studies, of which it was a founder member in 1981. BACS welcomes applications for membership from anyone with an interest in the study of Canada.

BACS aims to function as a forum and meeting point for Canadian Studies in Britain. Its annual conference combines a wide range of topics and distinguished speakers with an informal and friendly atmosphere. In recent years the conference has been held in Oxford, Cambridge and Durham.
