Greetings!

Glutathione and its associated enzymes play a major role in maintaining health, preventing premature aging by oxidative stress, and enabling the body to excrete chemical and metallic toxins. Increasing contamination of our environment by chemicals and heavy metals in the past 150 years has led to our glutathione systems being severely overburdened. This has resulted in problems of chronic toxicity manifested by chronic fatigue, immune dysfunction, hormonal imbalances, and chronic inflammation becoming increasingly commonplace.

In addition to the contamination of our air, water, food, soil, homes and household products, we are exposing ourselves to alien molecules in the form of pharmaceutical drugs, never seen on the earth until the past 50 or 60 years. Many of these substances can be purchased without a prescription "over-the-counter" and are perceived by the general public as being "harmless".

A prime example of this is the drug acetominophen a.k.a. Tylenol or paracetamol, the most widely used analgesic and antipyretic in the world. It is used in over 100 combination medications for pain, colds, allergies, sinus infections, etc. But how safe is it?

Two or 3 minutes spent on Google reveals a disturbing picture. Hundreds of cases of liver failure as well as other severe toxic reactions are linked to Tylenol use every year. In the past 15 years scientific investigations have revealed that 2 to 5% of the population cannot safely ingest Tylenol due to inability to safely metabolize it, particularly under conditions of physiological stress. Some of these people have an abnormal P450 enzyme CYP2E1, which produces a toxic metabolite N-acetyl-para-benzoquinone imine (NAPQI) which depletes mitochondrial glutathione and inactivates sulfhydryl enzyme throughout the body causing severe metabolic dysfunction of every organ including the brain. Other infants and small children may also manifest this problem due to immaturity of their metabolism. Others may be susceptible due to exposure to Mercury and other toxins which can deplete glutathione levels. Furthermore, vaccines are routinely administered along with Tylenol to prevent fever.

Recent evidence suggests that Tylenol may be an important factor in the development of autistic spectrum disorders. Consider that 2 to 5% of children may not have the capacity to metabolize it safely. Consider that is routinely administered with vaccines that may contain mercury and other neurotoxins that deplete glutathione. Consider that the mothers of newborn infants may be taking Tylenol.

Older people with mercury and heavy metal poisoning often use acetaminophen for a variety of pain problems and other issues.  Hair analyses in this group indicate an inability to detoxify the body associated with low glutathione levels in the overwhelming majority. It is our experience that such individuals tend to manifest severe adverse reactions to a wide variety of pharmaceutical agents. We believe that because of the low glutathione levels present in this group these individuals are likely to have a much lower toxic threshold to Tylenol and other drugs.

In normal people NAPQI is rendered harmless by combining with glutathione, but what happens if there is too much acetaminophen and /or too little glutathione? We know from extensive experience with chronic drinkers, known to have low glutathione levels, are at greater risk to liver damage.  Similarly persons with chronic pulmonary disease are known to have low glutathione levels in the lung and persons with chronic pancreatitis have also been found to have  low glutathione levels. Another part of the problem is that people often don't realize that acetaminophen may be a component of certain medicines, for example: Darvocet, Percocet, Vicodin, TheraFlu, Nyquil, etc., etc.

If you suffer from chronic fatigue, fibromyalgia, chemical sensitivities, sleep disturbances and other signs of toxicity or if you have small children with multiple allergies, behavioral and developmental disorders, be extremely cautious about using vaccines, acetaminophen or other pharmaceutical drugs.  Caution may spare you serious consequences.

May you all experience optimal health.
