My most recent Apen Schatz trip has been amazing and I am dying to share it with my Alpen Schatz enthusiasts! The story of my adventures is still in the making...but here is a brief teaser of what is to come:

Thus far, I have captured the culture of ancient Roman times through a spectacular temporary exhibition of Pompeii in London; dined in old world pubs in the old Cotswold market town of Witney; experienced an Oxford local's swing dancing class (CEROC) and feasted in a Morrocan restaurant with Flamenco entertainment, not to mention visiting Blenheim Palace, Churchill's birthplace, all of which were in or near to Oxford, England.
I had numerous Afternoon Teas, but the most spectacular was in the Medieval town of Chester, England where I also got to walk in a ca. 2000 year old Roman Amphitheater as well as the 1000 year old Cloister of Chester Cathedral.
In Ireland, I have taken in the 900 year old multi-cultural City of Galway, been to Snugs and Sessions in Dingle CliffsDingle as well as met its token Dolphin of 30 years, Fungie and soaked in the scenery and ocean along the breathtaking Cliffs of Dingle.
Playing the Alpenhorn at a Swiss Chalet
In Switzerland, I was wined and dined in one of Geneva's oldest and most beautiful hotels, reveled in the rich history of French Swiss Castles, seen Gruyre cheese in the making, and played an Alpenhorn in an old and remote Swiss Mountain Hut.
In Appezell, I learned the secret behind the origin of its popular Swiss Collars and Belts from the oldest family who have been making them since 1750 (the secret to be revealed in my upcoming story!).
And now I find myself in the rugged beauty of the Kufstein Alps in Austria, where I have hiked the green pastures and hills surrounding one of Austria's most beautiful Alpine Villages and slept in a 1000 year old Castle...in the room of one of the former Counts whose family reigned here in the 17th and 18th Centuries!
So please be patient! I will reveal the full account of my trip in my next Newsletter, including recommendations for things to do, superb accommodations where I highly recommend staying and delectable places to dine in each of the areas I have visited on this trip.
In the meantime...some news that I could not wait to share with you before my next Newsletter...bis dann!

Bernese Specialty Invitation

Join ALPEN SCHATZ at the 2013 Bernese Specialty

in Loveland, Colorado

May 13-18, 2013

Every year for 12 years now, Alpen Schatz has had a booth at the National Bernese Mountain Dog Specialty. We have travelled from coast to coast to support this exciting annual event where there are hundreds of Bernese enthusiasts, breeders, show dogs and sporting competitions. There is even a Berner University, where one can take courses to learn more about the breed as well as health clinics to get your own dog checked-up. It is an exciting4th of July Hagen event if you are a Berner owner or lover.

Should you be in the Denver area or can make a trip to Denver, the show this year will be held May 13-18 in Loveland Colorado.

The week is choc full of events that can be found on their dedicated website. The event is free apart from some of the clinics and the Berner U, and one can drop in for a week or just a day.

In any event, we would love to welcome you onto the Alpen Schatz Booth where we will have a good assortment of our pet and people Alpine Treasures that we have both on our web-site and in our shop. It is a perfect time to get your dog (Bernese or other) a great collar or matching leash...or to get yourself some Alpine jewelry, an Alpine Hat, or the full outfit of Dirndl or Lederhosen. We hope to see you in Loveland in just a couple of weeks!
