At the end of May, Wagontale's DaVinci, a Bernese Mountain Dog puppy, joined our Alpen Schatz household. Born a month after the passing of co-founding Alpen Schatz, Smokie Bear, DaVinci came to us at 9 weeks of age and a whopping 18 lbs.

He has brightened up the lives of big brother, Valentino, myself as well as visiting Alpen Schatz customers and fans. The Alpen Schatz boutique was not quite the same without two big bumbling Berners laying around and greeting customers, and baby DaVinci has filled that void. He has slipped right into the role of loving every dog, child and adult visiting the shop...not to mention how much he loves his brother, Valentino.

NEW! Join Alpen Schatz in the 2012 4th of July Parade | |

Every 4th of July, one of the most quintessential, old-fashioned and entertaining 4th of July parades takes place in the scenic Rocky Mountain town of Telluride, Colorado.
Since Alpen Schatz moved to Telluride 8 years ago, we have annually sponsored an award winning entry in the parade called:
The Bernese Mountain Dogs of Telluride and their Friends
Last year we had over 20 people and their dogs marching with us in this exciting event. We even had Alpen Schatzi's come from as far as California, Texas, Arizona and all over Colorado to participate.
There were many Bernese, Labs, a Chihuahua , a Poodle, and a handful of darling Heinz 57's all showing off their Alpen Schatz collars, leashes and alpine scarves. We even had a toddler with her 100lb Bernese leading her in the parade! There were quite a few people dressed up in their Alpine garb marching with us, making our entry one of the most colorful and definitely unique in the parade.

How to participate:
On Wednesday, 4th of July, arrive 9-10:30 am at the Alpen Schatz Boutique - 100 W Colorado Ave, Telluride - with your dog(s), decorations and outfits. We will have refreshments and bagels while we get dolled up Alpine style for the parade. The parade begins at 11am.
