In this current update issue we will provide links to the 7th SOT Research Conference; its abstracts and videos of the presentations to view for FREE. Also presented are three new SOT and cranial related articles recently published in PubMed journals as well as three SOT research presentations from the 2015 WFC/ECU Conferences. Some recent research findings of interest are also shared regarding a problem of an anterior dental bridge across a patient's midline, cervical adjustments and stroke, harnessing the placebo effect, and a recent finding of a lymphatic system within the central nervous system.

How a perfect, implant-retained anterior bridge can cause facial pain
Sheldon LN. Perio-Implant Advisory. June 16, 2015.
While for years SOT chiropractors that practice cranial technique and work with dentists have cautioned about fixed appliances across the maxillary midline, it appears that the message is getting out to the dental field. Lee Sheldon, DMD discusses a case he treated where "a perfect, implant-retained anterior bridge can cause facial pain."
Gerald Smith, DDS, has also discussed this issue over the years, please also see the following:

Placebo, meaning, and health
Barrett B, Muller D, Rakel D, Rabago D, Marchand L, Scheder JC. Perspect Biol Med. 2006 Spring;49(2):178-98.
The oft-disparaged "placebo effect" can become a powerful tool for both patient and doctor if we can figure out ways to enhance this mysterious alchemical healer within. Barrett et all "list eight specific clinical actions: speak positively about treatments, provide encouragement, develop trust, provide reassurance, support relationships, respect uniqueness, explore values, and create ceremony. These clinical actions can empower patients to seek greater health and may provide a healthful sense of being cared for. Click here to see this study.
This study may also help as a clinical guide to augment our patient's healing:

Structural and functional features of central nervous system lymphatic vessels.
Louveau A, Smirnov I, Keyes TJ, et al. Nature. 2015, Jun1.
Time to rethink our understanding of the brain and its vasculature system. A prolific CSF researcher, Hugh Davson, stated in 1972, "We may regard the CSF as the equivalent of a lymphatic system, carrying away from the cranial and spinal systems substances that would not be able to leave at significant rates otherwise [1]."
However now in 2015 Louveau et al found that in searching for T-cell gateways into and out of the meninges, they "discovered functional lymphatic vessels lining the dural sinuses. These structures express all of the molecular hallmarks of lymphatic endothelial cells, are able to carry both fluid and immune cells from the cerebrospinal fluid, and are connected to the deep cervical lymph nodes. The unique location of these vessels may have impeded their discovery to date, thereby contributing to the long-held concept of the absence of lymphatic vasculature in the central nervous system."
