Dear Colleague:

A few days ago I sat back and was fairly amazed at the wonders that SOTO-USA has accomplished in such a short period of time. Sometimes as we step forward to create new exciting options for chiropractic and SOT doctors it is nice to look back and acknowledge our accomplishments.

When SOTO-USA formed years ago it had an important focus, it was to "to promote the awareness, understanding and utilization of the Sacro Occipital Technique method of chiropractic as founded and developed by Dr. Major Bertrand DeJarnette" through teaching and researching SOT.

While the following list is not comprehensive it does give a representative overview of some of SOTO-USA's accomplishments. We could never have moved forward without your support and help and greatly appreciate and need your support through membership.

 

1. SOT and Cranial Certification Series


 

1. We have the first SOT and Cranial certification series of seminars which present consistent material across the country. These seminars preserve the foundational DeJarnette SOT and cranial procedures while updating terminology with current evidence based literature. The seminar series give doctors clear guidance about what information is needed to prepare for SOT and cranial certification examinations.

2. SOT in the Chiropractic Pediatric Arena
 

ICPA 2. We have developed a relationship with the ICPA and have three SOT and cranial pediatric seminars within the ICPA required pediatric seminar series sharing SOT and cranial to many chiropractors who have not had that opportunity before.

3. SOT, Cranial, and Research Book Publications
 

3. We have a series of updated books which take the work of DeJarnette and improves the graphics, writing style, and updates the language to fit the current evidence based literature. While the books are new the dedication and following of DeJarnette's work has meticulously followed.

4. SOT Research Awareness
 

SOT Compendium 4. Over the past ten years we have presented SOT and cranial related research at over 50 chiropractic and interdisciplinary conferences. We have developed research awareness of SOT in the important chiropractic research and academic arenas and are working various projects with various chiropractic researchers.

5. 2nd Annual SOT Research Conference
 

SOT Reesarch Conference 5. This past October 2009 we had our first SOT Research Conference, which was patterned after the major chiropractic research conferences and we had 28 research submissions that have led to multiple submissions of these papers to various other chiropractic and interdisciplinary research conferences. This year's research conference will be held in New Orleans October 28, 2010, so please start considering writing your submission now.

6. Protecting Your Scope of Practice
 

Cranial 6. When there have been questions about state scope of practice laws in the United States SOTO-USA responded by contacting all the states that had questionable stances on cranial and TMJ evaluation and treatment and creating clarity to protect the SOT doctors in their state.

7. SOTO-USA & TMD Alliance
 

TMJ Anatomy 7. Since 2005 SOTO-USA is the only chiropractic based member organization of the American Alliance of TMD Organizations whose member organizations represents 17,000 dental members.

8. Reaching Out to the Dental Profession for SOT Doctors.
 

8. SOTO-USA has reached out to various dental organizations to demonstrate how dentists and chiropractors can and must work together for the best interests of their patients.
