Sixth Sunday
of Easter
O God, you have prepared for those who love you such good things as surpass our understanding: Pour into our hearts such love towards you, that we, loving you in all things and above all things, may obtain your promises, which exceed all that we can desire; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God for ever and ever. Amen.
- Book of Common Prayer p. 225

Searching for a Priest in the Diocese of Hawai'i
By Cn. Liz Beasley
![Liz Beasley](http://ih.constantcontact.com/fs023/1101479076646/img/248.jpg?a=1113250200824) "Deployment." For years that strange word has meant in the Episcopal Church the "search process," whereby priests looking for a new position and churches looking for a new priest engage in a series of communications and interviews, until finally (everyone hopes) a match emerges between an applicant and a church, a call is extended, and a new ministry begins.
These days, the word "deployment" has been replaced with "transition ministry," recognizing that in this work we are working with priests and churches in transition. I have been doing this work in the Diocese of Hawai'i for the past six years, and also had previous experience with it elsewhere. I am what is now called the Diocesan Transition Minister.
The name is not the only thing that has changed. The search process is different now than it was even two years ago, and especially different than five or six years ago. Transition ministry has changed because the church, the society, and economics all are undergoing radical and rapid change. I won't go into all the changes here, but will mention several that specifically affect search processes. READ MORE

Donations Needed for The Chuuk House
St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church in Honolulu has put out a call to help The Chuuk House, a place where Chuukese who need urgent medical care in Hawai'i can stay and recuperate before returning home. The house, located in Salt Lake (Honolulu), was previously supported by the Chuukese (Micronesian) government, but is no longer being funded. St. Elizabeth's and others in the community have been helping out with food, but they are in dire need of basic necessities. Donations can be made to the St. Elizabeth's Pastoral Fund, with "Chuuk House" in the memo portion, and sent to St. Elizabeth's at 720 N. King St., Honolulu, HI 96817.

Presiding Bishop issues statement on Senate Introduction of Comprehensive Immigration Reform
Episcopal Church Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori issued the following statement on the US Senate Introduction of Comprehensive Immigration Reform:
"We affirm that human beings are made in the image of God, created with dignity and intrinsic value. Dignified and productive work is one way in which people give expression to that divine creativity, and people often migrate in search of it. This Church seeks to uphold the rights of people to seek dignified possibility in life - what this nation calls "the inalienable right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness."
