Second Sunday after the Epiphany Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illuminated by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. The public is invited to attend a special worship service in observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 6:30 pm, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu. The Honolulu Council of Churches Fund Board along with major Christian denominations held the first service in 2008, and it has since become a tradition. Each year, one denomination hosts the location and another provides the preacher. Representatives from other denominations participate in readings and many clergy vest. This year, the host is Roman Catholic and the preacher is the Rev. Jeff Lilley of The Lutheran Church of Honolulu.

"God is with us, God is here, God will always be here"
On January 12, 2013, Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori celebrated and preached at Holy Trinity Cathedral in Port-au-Prince at the earthquake commemoration.
Three years ago, on January 12, 2010, a massive earthquake struck Haiti, killing more than 300,000 people and seriously injuring more than 250,000. 1.3 million were left homeless and an extensive number of private and public buildings were destroyed including Holy Trinity Cathedral.
While in Haiti, the Presiding Bishop will join with Episcopal Church pilgrims in touring the area and offering a witness to the rebuilding efforts underway. To read the Presiding Bishop's sermon in its entirety, click HERE.
