Second Sunday after the Epiphany

Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illuminated by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

 - Book of Common Prayer p. 215

"Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord, your labor is not in vain."
1 Corinthians 15:58

Celebrating the Life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.,  Monday, January 21, 2013
The Cathedral of St. Andrew and St. Elizabeth's Episcopal Church will be celebrating the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with very special activities and worship services.

Cathedral of St. Andrew Tribute
The Cathedral of St. Andrew will host a day-long tribute to the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. beginning at 9:00 am, with readings from Dr. King's writings and speeches.  Participants will include people from the Cathedral and wider Honolulu community.  The combined Cathedral Choirs will perform spirituals at the 12:15 pm celebration of the Holy Eucharist with Dean Brownridge preaching.  The service will be followed by more readings at 1:00 pm, and at 5:00 pm, soprano Georgine Stark will perform a half-hour recital with concluding prayers at 5:30 pm.

St. Elizabeth's 2nd Annual Martin Luther King, Jr. Ecumenical Service
For the second year, St. Elizabeth's will be hosting an evening service to honor the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. beginning at 6:00 pm. The service brings together clergy and people from around the island, and will feature at least two Gospel choirs, guest speakers and surprise guests.
2013 Christian Unity
The public is invited to attend a special worship service in observance of the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, on Thursday, January 24, 2013, at 6:30 pm, at the Cathedral of Our Lady of Peace in Honolulu. The Honolulu Council of Churches Fund Board along with major Christian denominations held the first service in 2008, and it has since become a tradition.  Each year, one denomination hosts the location and another provides the preacher.  Representatives from other denominations participate in readings and many clergy vest.  This year, the host is Roman Catholic and the preacher is the Rev. Jeff Lilley of The Lutheran Church of Honolulu.
Lord's Prayer Workshop
