Prayer

Proper 24

Almighty and everlasting God, in Christ you have revealed your glory among the nations: Preserve the works of your mercy, that your Church throughout the world may persevere with steadfast faith in the confession of your Name; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

 - Book of Common Prayer p. 235

Bishop's Prayer

A Simple Prayer of Commitment:

Come Holy Spirit; fill me so that I can: Dedicate my heart to Christ Jesus, open my mind to seek truth and justice, lift up my hands to welcome the outcast and care for the broken, behold with my eyes the wonders of creation, hear with my ears the story of God in the world, and sing with my lips a song of God's love - with laughter and without worry.  And always in the Name of Jesus. Amen.

 - As shared in the Annual Meeting of the Convention 2011

SESQUICENTENNIAL COUNTDOWN!

Outer Island Celebrations Completed

With the last of the outer island celebrations now a part of history, the focus is on the main celebration coming up on O'ahu beginning on Friday, November 9, and ending with a Festive Eucharist on Sunday, November 11.

Jefferst Schori at GC2012
Presiding Bishop

All Episcopalians as well as the general public are invited to take part in a grand weekend of festivities that include the opening ceremonies with Presiding Bishop Katharine Jefferts Schori, special speakers, presentations and performances, all taking place in Tenney Theater Friday morning.  In the afternoon, a Ministry Fair in Queen Emma Park will run from 12:00 - 3:00 pm, and boxed lunches are available with advance purchase. A Requiem Mass at the Cathedral of St. Andrew follows at 3:00 pm, and will honor those who have gone before us in these past 150 years, beginning with the Sovereigns and concluding with our 2012 Necrology.

Saturday will be devoted to the 44th Annual Meeting of Convention, but the entire Diocese is encouraged to participate in the closing Festival Eucharist on Sunday, beginning at 9:00 am.  Presiding Bishop Jefferts Schori will celebrate and preach at this service taking place in the Cathedral of Saint Andrew, and the service will be live-streamed through the internet.  Congregations are encouraged to make arrangements to follow along and worship together during this very special event, and can learn more about setting up for live-streaming HERE.

Please visit the Diocesan website to view all the latest information on the Sesquicentennial celebration.  To assist organizers in planning and accommodating everyone, please take a few minutes to let us know which public events you may be interested in attending by clicking HERE.  You are also able to place an order for a boxed lunch on Friday through this link.

For more information or if you have any questions, e-mail Carol Arney, Event Support and coordinator of the event.
