Public invited to Veterans Day Assembly
Two Poplar Bluff heroes among military will headline the Veterans Day program at the 5th & 6th Grade Center, which has maintained the civic tradition every year since the school opened, with the rare exception.
Sgt. 1st Class Brandon Gulley of the 101st Airborne Division and Rob Callahan, the founder of the Honor Tour, which shepherds World War II veterans to the memorial in Washington, D.C., will keynote the event beginning at 9 a.m. Monday, Nov. 11, in the gymnasium.
"On Veterans Day, our nation will celebrate and honor those men and women of the armed forces who have served their country with honor, sacrifice and courage," stated Charles Brown, principal over 5/6. "The 5th & 6th Grade Center is privileged to do its part by hosting a community-wide Veterans Day program. Please come out and join us as we pay tribute to all those who have served."

Please take our long-range planning survey
Poplar Bluff R-I officials are making the school's long-range planning survey available online for residents who did not get selected at random to participate by telephone.
The survey, which can be completed by clicking here, will remain open until 5 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 13, then a summary report will be supplied to the school district. All individual responses will be kept confidential.
Administered by Patron Insight of Kansas City, the survey is designed to let citizens weigh-in on the various components of the master plan that have been agreed upon over the past several months in an effort to best meet the needs of the growing student population.

During the first quarter of the school year, Oak Grove students earned Paw Pride dollars for good behavior that they were able to spend at a makeshift store set up Wednesday, Oct. 30, in the elementary school.
The inventory was made possible by Poplar Bluff Realty, which sponsored Oak Grove's first quarter positive incentive, along with the Parent Teacher Organization. Next quarter, the incentive will have a "Winter Wonderland" theme.
