YOUTH LEADER TRAINING 2012
 | |
Pastor Craig Mosgrove
|
For the third straight year, ASCM held the very popular and powerful Youth Leader Training event. Returning to conduct the training for the second consecutive year was Pastor Craig Mosgrove, High School, College, & Young Adult Pastor at North Cleveland Church of God in Cleveland, TN.
This year's theme was entitled "Unhurried Discipleship." The all day training event was held at ASCM on July 6, 2012 where more than 300 youth pastors and leaders from across the Philippines participated.
There was a powerful move of God among the youth leaders as they were taught on the topics of the "Biblical perspective and goal of youth ministry," "Why do students come to Youth Ministry and stay?," and "How do we partner with parents in effective ministry?"

Each participant had an incredible experience during the Foot Washing session led by Pastor Craig. The ASCM Chapel was filled with God's presence and people could not contain the move of the Spirit as they humbled themselves by washing the feet of others.
Accompanying Pastor Craig this year was an entire team of American young adults from North Cleveland COG who helped minister through music, worship, testimonies, and prayer.

ASCM HELPS FLOOD VICTIMS
On August 17, 2012, ASCM volunteered to assist the National Resource Operation Center (Management of Calamity Relief Assistance for Distribution) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD). This Philippine government agency is in charge of all relief operations for calamity victims.
The entire ASCM Family helped in packing tons of rice and other relief goods that were to be distributed to the victims of the catastrophic "Typhoon Habagat" who were displaced from their homes and living in evacuation centers near the flooded areas. The intense flooding and rain, which lasted from August 1-8, left 95 people dead and 8,428 homes destroyed.
It was an overwhelming experience of social awareness and responsibility that has already been established inside the classroom through the ASCM CTI Program and was then put into practice when the social need arose.

Once again, as part of the ongoing ASCM CTI project, students visited the adopted community in Botanical, Makati City on September 1, 2012. The students served chicken soup to 250 children and distributed 225 flip-flops. When kids saw the flip-flops they were very surprised and thrilled to get a pair for themselves. They also enjoyed singing motion songs taught to them in Tagolag by Filipino the students and participated in many fun games led by the international students.

ASCM CTI of Masters Students Serves faMEALy Lunch

On September 28, 2012 the Masters students conducted their project for CTI. Not with the usual gathering in the court area of Botanical, but rather a house-to-house visit. Where they walked through the narrow passages and climbed the make-shift stairs asking the residents of this compact squatter area of the poorest of the poor to sit with them and share some food and friendship.
The students served packed lunches to 250 families in one day. Through the giving of food, the students further deepened their relationship with these families. The students were able to reach out to these families inside their homes, where they eat with them and prayed for them.

39TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
ASCM turned 39 this year! A two day celebration was held September 13-14, 2012. The theme was "Build Up." taken from 1 Corinthians 3:10-11.
The celebration begun with a Chapel Service led by the Dr. Marcos Ligero, Interim President, who shared a message. It was then followed by International Food Fest with seven (7) countries represented: China, Fiji, Indonesia, Mongolia, South Korea, Philippines and USA.
The rest of the afternoon was several simultaneous activities including the MSW students seminar entitled "The Church and Social Work," a Poster and Slogan Contest, and "Movie Night."

The second day of the celebration started with the First Aid Seminar and Blood Donation led by the Philippine Red Cross. The afternoon was filled with exciting and challenging events like Extemporaneous Preaching and Year Level Talent Presentations.
The celebration was a lot of fun and a great success enjoyed by everyone. ASCM has accomplished much over the past 39 years, but most importantly, ASCM students love their school. To God be all the glory!

From the President

It is with great difficulty that Carol and I say goodbye to the faculty, staff, and students of ASCM as we leave the presidency to accept this new role being asked of us by our leadership.
We are so thankful to God for allowing us to have served them over the past 6 years. In 2006, Carol and I moved to Manila with our two children, Ryan and Stephanie. We had spend the previous 8 years as missionaries in Europe, serving first the country of Portugal, living in Lisbon, and then the countries of Western Europe, living in Germany. Upon our arrival we immediately fell in love with ASCM. Will will never forget the faculty, staff, and hundreds of students that came from across Asia and the world. We were truly privileged to have known each of them over those years and they will forever be in our heats, on our minds, and in our prayers.
We are so thankful to God for these students and their commitment to their calling, no matter the cost, hardship, or danger. It is our prayer that God will guide them, lead them, empower them, and supply all of their needs as they serve Him.
We are so thankful to God for the opportunity to serve along side the brilliant faculty and staff of ASCM. Their commitment to servant leadership and the training of the next generation of ministers is unsurpassed. It is our prayer that God bless them abundantly in return for their sacrificial service.
I am so thankful for the Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries (ASCM) and the leaders that came before us to make it what it is today. The accreditation, recognition, and programs ASCM has obtained over the past 39 years has placed it as the premier regional school for all of Asia/Pacific for Church of God. ASCM empowers the next generation of ministers to reach the Lord's Harvest in these last days. Through ASCM, God is equipping His ministers today and training a new generation of ministers for tomorrow in Asia. They are the workers that He will send out into His harvest field (Mt 9:38). It is our prayer that God continue to bless and prosper ASCM to reach its full potential in the days to come.
Finally, we thank God for those that have financially supported the Rains family and ASCM over the years. Without you, neither could be here. Without you, students could not be trained for the ministry with an accredited degree. Without you, we could not send out these workers into the greatest harvest field in the world today, Asia. It is my prayer that God blesses you for your giving, that God will gives back to you pressed down, shaken together, and running over (Lk 6:38). Please always keep the faculty, staff and students of ASCM in your daily prayers. Please continue to financially support this vital regional school.
Thank you ASCM for loving us. We will always love you.
Scott C. RainsDirector of Education & Youth Asia/Pacific
