OCTOBER 2010 INTENSIVES
Dr. Martin
Dr. Lee Roy Martin

This October our intensive courses convened with two very special guest professors from the US.  Our first guest was Dr. Lee Roy Martin, Associate Professor of Hebrew and Old Testament at the Pentecostal Theological Seminary (PTS).  Dr. Martin taught a week long intensive class on the Book of Psalms.

Dr. Parris
Dr. Randall Parris

Our second guest was Dr. Randall Parris, Urban Ministries and Leadership Development Coordinator for the International Youth and Discipleship Department.  He also serves as adjunct faculty at Lee University.  Dr. Parris taught on Models of Youth Ministry.

Both courses were amazing opportunities for our students to learn from true experts in these fields.  The Asian Seminary is so very grateful to them for traveling half-way around the world to teach our students here in Asia.  We thank God for them and their desire to be involved in global education and ministry!
Dr. Alvarez Visits ASCM
Dr. Alvarez

In October, we were honored to have Dr. Miguel Alvarez, former ASCM president (1992-2001), return to the Philippines and visit with us.  He is currently serving as the President of the Church of God South American Seminary (SEMISUD) in Quito, Ecuador.  He participated in the 15 year celebration of the Asian Center for Missions.  Everyone was excited to have the opportunity to see Dr. Alvarez again and spend some quality time reconnecting with him.

Workshops and Seminars
Mark Aranal
Mark Aranal

On November 3rd, renowned theater and television director Mark Aranal held a workshop on "Strengthening Your Theater Arts Ministry".  The workshop was open to all churches and ministries interested in improving their theater arts.  Director Aranal compiled and synthesized this workshop from his many years of experience in this field, bringing the participants a unique opportunity to learn from such high level expertise.  The participants were given tested and practical tools to equip them in this vital and growing ministry.

Marcia Anderson
Dr. Marcia Anderson

On December 9th, former ASCM professor Dr. Marcia Anderson returned to the Philippines to conduct a seminar from her book Care-frontation, which teaches the art of restoring and strengthening relationships in the Philippine context.  The all day "Carefrontation Seminar - Dare to Face the Goliath, Care Enough to Confront" helped the participants learn the skill of "Carefrontation" to lead men and women into holistic relationships through confronting sin, correcting, disciplining, and mentoring.  Dr. Anderson is currently serving as a missionary teacher at Discipleship College in Eldoret, Kenya.

 Holiday Events

Thanksgiving 01November also brought the annual Asian Seminary Thanksgiving dinner with the faculty and staff.  This year it was hosted at the Rains' apartment.  We all enjoyed a typical American feast and especially the tradition of giving thanks to God for His provision and for each other.

Thanksgiving 02December marked the official celebration of the Christmas with parties for both the students and the faculty and staff.  In the morning, the students enjoyed fun games, a photo booth, a 70's costume contest and great food.  In the afternoon the faculty and staff had their time of fun, food and fellowship in their annual Christmas office party for the whole family.

The Asian Seminary finished out a very busy and productive year with thankfulness to God and anticipation for the coming year.  We want to say "Thank You" to all who remain faithful in the financial support and prayers for the Asian Seminary.  We pray that God blesses you abundantly in 2011.
Training Asia 360 Campaign

Training Asia 360"Training Asia 360" is ASCM's new Partnership Campaign. The Asian Seminary serves as the Church of God regional school for Asia/Pacific. Since 1973, we have been equipping ministers and leaders across Asia and the 10/40 Window. Our purpose is "Training Nationals to Reach their Own!"

This vital ministry depends on donor support and scholarship. We cannot exist without you! Therefore, we have established the "Training Asia 360" Partnership Campaign to give you the opportunity to donate a small 'mustard seed' monthly or annual gift and become a partner with our students to fulfill the Great Commission in Asia!

Here is how "360 Partnership" works:
  1. ASCM Does 360 Training
From Grassroots, to Certificate, to Bachelor, to Masters, to Doctoral.
  2. We Need 360 Partners
    Churches or Individuals
  3. To Give $360
In either a single $360 offering or $30/month for one year.
Help us train up the next generation of Asian ministers!

Partner with ASCM to train Asians to reach Asia!

Scott & Carol Rains

Carol and I would like for you to seriously and prayerfully consider becoming a financial partner with ASCM.

It is not our desire to take away from what you are already doing for local and global missions. Therefore, instead of asking for large donations, we have established a 'mustard seed' approach that looks for more people to give small amounts (Mt 13:31-32; Mt 13:8, 23; Mt 9:37).

We are asking churches and individuals to give a small amount monthly or annually through the "Training Asia 360" partnership campaign.

We hope that the amount will be small enough that you can easily add this vital ministry to what you are already doing and get connected with the Asian harvest!

When you make the choice to partner with ASCM, you are reaching every nation in Asia through the students that we train for ministry.

If we are going to reach those that are unreached in Asia, we must be training Asian nationals from each country to effectively reach their own people.

That is exactly what ASCM does, but in order for our students to continue their training in these difficult economic times, we are asking for your financial help!

We need 360 partners to give a $360 offering or $30/month.

$30 a month cannot buy much these days, but when you plant it into GOOD SOIL, it can change nations for Christ.

Please click here to become a 360 Partner today!

THANK YOU!

Scott C. Rains
President
