Mindoro Missions Summer Trip

MMT 2010From April 18-26, 2010, ASCM students and alumni ministered in Occidental, Mindoro. Each summer for 11 years now, professors Doreen and Neil Benevidez have lead the Mindoro Missions Team (MMT) to bring holistic missions to the people of Mindoro, especially to the Mangyan tribes, based on Matthew 25:34-40. This year MMT conducted a seminar for the pastors and workers attended by 30 of them, a pastors' Kids conference attended by 15 PKs, a Youth Camp attended by 120 young people, and ministered to more than 200 Mangyans in the Mangyan community.

MMT 2010In the pastors and workers seminar, ASCM students shared strategies for more effective ministry. The PK conference was handled by ASCM students that are PK themselves. It was a blessed time for these PKs to share their struggles and challenges. The theme of the youth camp was 'SURVIVOR' and the youth were given challenges to do. It was a fun and refreshing time for everyone.

MMT 2010The Mangyan Pastor, Nestor Baclaoman, expressed his gratitude for the missions team and their yearly sharing of the Gospel to the scattered tribes in the mountains while catering to their needs. He told pastor Neil, "marami pong salamat dahil naisip niyo na may mga taong katulad namin sa bundok na nangangailangan ng kalinga at pagmamahal ni Kristo" (Translation: "We are very grateful that you continue to remember that there are people in the mountains who also need the care and love of Christ.").

MMT 2010 Going on a mission trip has many challenges: food, travel, sleeping conditions, threat of disease and sickness, and the challenge of being accepted and effective in presenting the Gospel. Despite the many challenges of going to remote areas, ASCM students understand the mandate to bring the Good News of Jesus Christ to those who need it the most. The Gospel comes alive when it is demonstrated in simple and tangible ways.

The Asian Seminary exists for the Gospel to be shared effectively to all people, that is why ASCM students, professors, and alumni alike, join hands together to fulfil this call.
Asia Theological Association (ATA) Evaluation

ATA Visit 2010

In May, the Commission of Accreditation and Educational Development of the Asia Theological Association (ATA-CAED) sent a Visiting Evaluation Team (VET) to ASCM. The team was composed of Dr. Theresa R. Lua, Dean, Asia Graduate School of Theology, Philippines and Associate Secretary of CAED, Dr. Sunny Tan, Academic Dean, Malaysia Baptist Theological Seminary and Dr. Floyd Cunningham, President, Asia Pacific Nazarene Theological Seminary, Philippines. The purpose of the visit was to evaluate our recent self-study report. Accredited institutions must submit this extensive report every 5 years at which time the evaluation team reviews all aspects of ASCM's institutional life which impinge upon accredited programs and submits a report to the Commission on the readiness for re-accreditation.

The VET visit was conducted May 24-26, 2010. Over this three day period, the team met with the Academic Dean, faculty members, registrar, librarian, Dean of Students, Business and HR Manger, the support staff, student representatives, alumni and the governing board.

The evaluation team concluded their visit by recommending to the CAED the re-accreditation of all ATA accredited programs of ASCM for the next five (5) years from 2010-2015.

God has blessed ASCM with accreditation both nationally and internationally. ASCM accreditation is as follows:

The Asian Seminary of Christian Ministries is a higher education institution recognized by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) of the Philippine government. It is an accredited member of the Association for Theological Education in South East Asia (ATESEA), which is a full member of the World Conference of Associations of Theological Institutions (WOCATI) by which the ATESEA is networked with other regional associations and accreditation agencies for theological education worldwide like the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada (ATS), the American Theological Library Association (ATLA) and the Board of Theological Education of the Senate of Serampore College (BTESS) in India.

ASCM is also accredited by the Asia Theological Association (ATA), Philippine Association of Bible and Theological Schools (PABATS) and is a member of the Asia Graduate School of Theology (AGST) consortium and the Asia Pacific Theological Association (APTA).

Training Asia 360

Training Asia 360"Training Asia 360" is ASCM's new Partnership Campaign. The Asian Seminary serves as the Church of God regional school for Asia/Pacific. Since 1973, we have been equipping ministers and leaders across Asia and the 10/40 Window. Our purpose is "Training Nationals to Reach their Own!"

This vital ministry depends on donor support and scholarship. We cannot exist without you! Therefore, we have established the "Training Asia 360" Partnership Campaign to give you the opportunity to donate a small 'mustard seed' monthly or annual gift and become a partner with our students to fulfill the Great Commission in Asia!

Here is how "360 Partnership" works:
  1. ASCM Does 360 Training
From Grassroots, to Certificate, to Bachelor, to Masters, to Doctoral.
  2. We Need 360 Partners
    Churches or Individuals
  3. To Give $360
In either a single $360 offering or $30/month for one year.
Help us train up the next generation of Asian ministers!

Partner with ASCM to train Asians to reach Asia!

From the President

From the President

Scott & Carol Rains

Carol and I would like for you to seriously and prayerfully consider becoming a financial partner with ASCM.

It is not our desire to take away from what you are already doing for local and global missions. Therefore, instead of asking for large donations, we have established a 'mustard seed' approach that looks for more people to give small amounts (Mt 13:31-32; Mt 13:8, 23; Mt 9:37).

We are asking churches and individuals to give a small amount monthly or annually through the "Training Asia 360" partnership campaign.

We hope that the amount will be small enough that you can easily add this vital ministry to what you are already doing and get connected with the Asian harvest!

When you make the choice to partner with ASCM, you are reaching every nation in Asia through the students that we train for ministry.

If we are going to reach those that are unreached in Asia, we must be training Asian nationals from each country to effectively reach their own people.

That is exactly what ASCM does, but in order for our students to continue their training in these difficult economic times, we are asking for your financial help!

We need 360 partners to give a $360 offering or $30/month.

$30 a month cannot buy much these days, but when you plant it into GOOD SOIL, it can change nations for Christ.

Please click here to become a 360 Partner today!

THANK YOU!

Scott C. Rains
President
