PMI Educational Foundation Liaison Newsletter

5 October 2012
Greetings!

Giving back to the community has become a tradition of many PMI chapters thanks in large part to your support, PMIEF Liaisons.

The PMI Mexico City Chapter is no exception.  In past years, its members have used PMIEF resources to provide project management training for a youth robotics competition, helped nonprofit organizations such as EDUCA teach their teachers project management skills, and used project management to help prepare parents and their children for their first communion.

Chapter Highlight:

Competitions + Competitors with Project Management Skills = Project Success

Mexico Cleanteach Photo - July 2012
Cleantech competitors learn project management from PMI Mexico City Chapter volunteers

For several years, and most recently this past July, the PMI Mexico City Chapter has participated in the Cleantech Challenge - Mexico, a competition created to develop "green" (i.e., environmentally-friendly) projects for companies.  The competitors have included university students and new green project entrepreneurs. Seventy of the competitors received project management training from Dulce Morales and Graciela Barcenas, two PMI Mexico City Chapter members.  Dulce and Graciela used PMIEF resources to teach the competitors how to implement project management best practices in the competition.

cleantech photo 2 Sofia Paredes, the Cleantech competition coordinator, has been very enthusiastic about this training. "Project management increases the impact of the projects in the competition and creates powerful green programs for the purpose of this competition," says Sofia.

Kudos to the PMI Mexico City Chapter members for its community involvement and its efforts to make this green competition a true success!
