Fishing Update |
- Napa River: Strong Bass and Sturgeon bite still. Joel fished with B+H Guide Services last week and brought in a 76" and a 36" Sturgeon on Grass. Napa seems to be the best ticket in town right now for a consistent bite. Grass Shrimp and EEL is recommended if targeting Sturgeon.
- Petaluma River: Sturgeon are jumping heavy up river. That hasn't necessarily translated to a wide open bite but keepers have been reported. I just got a report of a big keeper Sturgeon caught yesterday at the mouth of Port Sonoma from shore.
- San Pablo Bay: Leopard Sharks have moved in along side the monster Sturgeons. Pump house has been fair as well as the flats outside of Sonoma Creek. The only issue fishing the bay lately has been the high winds in the afternoons. That being said having to tuck into one of the rivers for shelter from the winds hasn't necessarily been a bad thing.
- Bait: The Grass Shrimp supply is only getting better, it has been some tough tides and high winds lately and that has affected the ability to get any. Pile Worms have been steady whereas the Ghost Shrimp haven't been holding up well enough to keep consistently. Bullheads and Mudsuckers have been scarce due to the lack of shrimping but that should be changing this next week.
- We recommend that you do not try to boat into our slough right now. The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch. We hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide. Until they dredge you gotta drive here before you launch.
