Here is Marcus showing off a nice 18.5" Bass and a 36" shaker Sturgeon last week.  He and his uncle David fished the Pumphouse with grass shrimp and from the looks of it they had some action.  Thanks for the pic's guys!

Fishing Update
 APRIL'S FISHING DERBY HAS STARTED!

BASS SIZE: 30"

STURGEON SIZE: 541/2"
Bring your fish down to Leonard's to get measured (during business hours).  In the case of a tie the first fish measured wins that place.  Derby will end on April 29th with a pig roast/BBQ.
  • San Pablo Bay:   North San Pablo has been hot for Bass/Sturgeon.  The mouth of the rivers have been the ticket.  Few boats have been able to make it out to the pumphouse so we haven't had too many reports from this area.  Most boats have been tucked in the rivers and have been reporting an abundance of fish.
  • Sonoma Creek:   There have been a couple of Sturgeon brought in.  It is our opinion that you should probably fish the Pet/Napa Rivers instead right now being that those systems have been hot.
  • Napa River:  Sturgeon galore! (see Below) Both Brad and Norman got their fish from the lower river.  Many others have called and said similar things.  Grass has been the bait of choice but these fish are not picky right now by any means.
  • Petaluma River: Bass bite is hotter than Whitney Houston's  crack pipe.  We had two separate shore guys come back with limits yesterday.  I released a 14" while writing this report (bullhead).
  • Be careful coming into our slough at low tide.  The mud is pretty thick and if you can just stop by before you launch.  We would hate to see you guys mess up your engine kicking up mud on the bottom of a tide.

The Derby and The Stay Dry Combo!
Captain Joels Fishing Min Ep. 5
Captain Joels Fishing Min Ep. 5

Norman Harmon fished a yesterday and caught 5 Sturgeon (2 keepers and 3 shakers).  They also lost a 20lb bass at the boat! Lower Napa seems to have been the ticket.

Here is Jack Gonzales with his 59" 63lb keeper caught at McNears on Ghost Shrimp.  He fished with 25lb line on the first hour of the out going.

Here is Jack again last month on a trip he took up to Oregon.  He fished with a whole herring and he took an hour to bring in.  This was about a 10 footer near 500lbs.  Whoooo Dogggyyyy!
