The Film Festival will be held Thursday, February 23rd through Saturday, February 25th at the Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio, Texas. The vision Doug Phillips, the founder of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film, wrote, "Henry Van Til correctly observed that "culture is religion externalized." By this, he meant that the culture of a people reflects their true religious priorities. The music, paintings, and film of a nation (not to mention the thousands of daily cultural expressions - how we live, eat, work, and entertain ourselves) express our priorities, our values, and our true faith.
Doug Phillips, the founder, articulates the vision. "The Bible teaches that all men have faith, in that they either worship the creature or they worship the Creator, but no man is free from religious commitment. When a people worship sensuality or embrace dark visions of reality, it is always evidenced in the arts. There is no neutrality! On the other hand, when a nation fears and loves the God of Holy Scripture, their religious commitment is evidenced in the music they play, the way they dress, and their vision of family life. "The fact is that America is discontent with Hollywood's negative, monopolistic stranglehold on film and culture. The humanistic religious worldview of Hollywood elites created a rift in American culture and profoundly damaged the American family. We intend to respond, not by cursing the darkness, but by lighting candles. Building a community of independent Christian filmmakers is one such candle."

FRANKLIN GRAHAM: OBAMA SEEN AS 'SON OF ISLAM'
Rev. Franklin Graham, the son of evangelist Billy Graham and a prominent evangelical leader in his own right, waded into contentious waters Tuesday when asked for his views on the religious beliefs of President Obama and the GOP hopefuls.
Graham, the CEO and president of the Billy Graham Evangelistic Association, told a Morning Joe panel he couldn't say for certain that Obama is a Christian.
"You have to ask him. I cannot answer that question for anybody. All I know is I'm a sinner, and that God has forgiven me of my sins," Graham said. "You have to ask every person. He has said he's a Christian, so I just have to assume that he is."
But Graham also said he couldn't "categorically" say Obama wasn't a Muslim, in part, because Islam has gotten a "free pass" under Obama. Graham also said the Muslim world sees Obama as a "son of Islam," because the president's father and grandfather were Muslim.

Comments unearthed from a 2008 speech about Satan's influence on America made Republican presidential candidate Rick Santorum the target of derision and mockery today, but talk-radio host Michael Savage contends the former Pennsylvania senator is right, and his beliefs should only help his chances for the White House this fall.
"I think Santorum is right, and I think that anyone who attacks him is not seeing this for what it is," Savage told his radio audience.

RUSH: I mentioned earlier in the program that Santorum, people have dug deep and they found a speech that he gave back in 2008 in Ave Maria, Florida, at Ave Maria University. Drudge has this plastered up. The Democrats have found it. It's all over the place. Think Progress and whatever leftist think tanks have dug this up, and it's part of the predictable attempt to impugn Santorum as an absolute religious nut and wacko.
But he did say these things and he'll to have an answer for these things when queried. Let's play these sound bites. We have three of them. This is where Santorum has said that Satan has set his sights on America. Again, this is at Ave Maria University, August of 2008, in Ave Maria, Florida.

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- PALIN: MEDIA GETTING "WEE-WEED UP" OVER SANTORUM'S SATAN REMARK
| Sarah Palin: 'Lamestream Media' Are 'All Wee-Weed Up' About Santorum's Satan Remark | "They will attack any conservative who boldly proclaims their faith and talks about there is good in the world and there's evil in the world and that's what Rick Santorum was talking about. And this was a speech that he gave back in 2008 where he named evil as Satan. And for these lame-stream media characters to get all wee-weed up about that, first you have to ask yourself, 'Have they ever attended a Sunday school class even? Have they never heard of this terminology before?" And that's why they got so, you know, just whacked out about the speech," Sarah Palin told Sean Hannity on FOX News tonight.
"Sean, I gave a speech back in 2008 where I asked college and high school students if they would pray for our troops and pray for our efforts overseas in war zones and they ran that tape over and over again in the Vice Presidential race trying to make me sound like a whacko talking about good and evil in our world."
Watch video ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SANTORUM DEFENDS HIS SATAN WARNING BY COMPARING HIMSELF TO REAGAN Rick Santorum has sought to deflect controversy over a 2008 speech in which he said that "Satan has set his sights on the United States" by drawing a parallel with Ronald Reagan branding the Soviet Union an "evil empire".
Speaking at a rally in Phoenix, Arizona, the former US Senator for Pennsylvania told an anecdote about Lech Walesa and stating that "yes there are there are forces of evil in the world". The former Solidarity leader in Poland, he said, had recalled the days when "America would stand up and call evil by its name".

Santorum said: "Ronald Reagan did that. Ronald Reagan called the Soviet Union an evil empire and the media went would how dare you how dare you ascribe terms like good and evil to regimes.
 | President Ronald Reagan - "Evil Empire" Speech |
"Because Ronald Reagan told the truth. He didn't sugarcoat it. He went out and called it the way it was. He went out and promoted the values of our country."
His response is unlikely to convince critics of his outspoken religiosity, however, because Reagan was talking about foreign policy and a Cold War foe while Santorum appeared to be talking about a spiritual threat.
Self-comparisons with Reagan, a Republican demi-god, are, moreover, often politically risky, as Newt Gingrich has found out.
In 1983, Reagan rejected the advice of aides who urged him not to call the Soviet Union an "evil empire", delivering a speech to the National Association of Evangelicals in Orlando, Florida that is now seen as a defining moment in the demise of the USSR and the end of the Cold War.
Before Santorum spoke in Phoenix, Rush Limbaugh, the conservative talk show host, said that publication of excerpts from the speech were "part of the predictable attempt to impugn Santorum as an absolute religious nut and wacko". But he added that Santorum "will have to deal with it, he'll have to answer it".
In the speech to students at Ave Maria University in south-west Florida in August 2008, Mr Santorum, a devout Roman Catholic and father of seven, said that "Satan has his sights on the United States of America".
Audio of the speech, which was posted on the Drudge Report earlier in the day, revealed that he said: "Satan is attacking the great institutions of America, using those great vices of pride, vanity, and sensuality as the root to attack all of the strong plants that has so deeply rooted in the American tradition."

He warned that US politics and government were falling prey to the devil. "This is a spiritual war. And the Father of Lies has his sights on what you would think the Father of Lies would have his sights on: a good, decent, powerful, influential country - the United States of America. If you were Satan, who would you attack in this day and age?"
Satan "attacks all of us and he attacks all of our institutions", he insisted in the speech, and was even taking control of some Christian denominations. "We look at the shape of mainline Protestantism in this country and it is in shambles, it is gone from the world of Christianity as I see it."
| Santorum: Satan is Systematically Destroying America |
Talking to a scrum of reporters after his Phoenix event this evening, Santorum was visibly irritated by questions about the Satan speech.
"You know, I'm a person of faith," he said. "I believe in good and evil. I think if somehow or other you're a person of faith you believe in good and evil is a disqualifier for president were going to have a very small pool of candidate who can run for president.
"Ronald Reagan talked very much in terms of good and evil. the fact of the matter is good and veil exists. Ronald Reagan recognized it. I think the vast vast majority of Americans recognize it."
When asked if he still thought Satan had designs on the US, he expressed his frustration that he was being diverted from highlighting the economy. "Guys, these are questions that are not relevant to what's being discussed in America today," he said. "What we're talking about in America today is trying to get America going.
"That's what my speeches are about. That's what were going to talk about in this campaign. If they want to dig up old speeches talking to a religious group they can go right ahead and do so.
"But I'm going to stay on message and I'm going to talk about things that Americans want to talk about which is creating jobs, getting our country safer and secure and yeah taking on the forces around this world who want to do harm to America. You bet I'll take them on." ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ ARPAIO: I BRIEFED SANTORUM ON BIRTH CERTIFICATE INVESTIGATION
