Mike Yuchnitz approached an employee at his discount eyewear store who had been illegally supplying him with the sedative Ambien and said he wanted to have his wife killed - and said his son was in on it, too, the employee told jurors Friday.
Fidel Pantejo opted to recruit police instead of a hitman, and later wore a secret recording device to help detectives build a murder-for-hire case against his boss, according to testimony in Yuchnitz's high-profile divorce trial.

A Texas teacher is fighting to keep her job after allegedly telling a Hispanic student to "go back to Mexico," according to a Fox 4 News story.
Two-time "Teacher of the Year" Shirley Burns, 63, was handing out Title 1 forms to her 8th grade class at Barnett Junior High School in Arlington, the television station reported. A disruptive student requested a Spanish version of the form, saying, "I'm Mexican. I'm Mexican."

UNARMED MAN SHOT TO DEATH WHILE HOLDING BABY
An Arizona man was shot to death by police Tuesday while holding his grandson.
"There were at least three officers in position to engage the suspect. At least one of the officers thought he saw something in the suspect's hands," said Sgt. Mark Clark.
Loxas was standing outside of his home with his grandchild still in his arms when Officer James Peters fired one shot to the head, killing the suspect.

North Carolina officials have said there was a misunderstanding when a preschooler's homemade lunch was sent home for not meeting certain nutritional requirements, but now a second mother from the same school has come forward exclusively to The Blaze to say the same thing happened to her daughter.
Diane Zambrano says her 4-year-old daughter, Jazlyn, is in the same West Hoke Elementary School class as the little girl whose lunch gained national attention earlier this week. When Zambrano picked Jazlyn up from school late last month, she was told by Jazlyn's teacher that the lunch she had packed that day did not meet the necessary guidelines and that Jazlyn had been sent to the cafeteria.

A costly restroom facility in Elmhurst contracted by the city nearly two years ago is still under construction, and it could end up costing even more than originally indicated.
The comfort station at Elmhurst Park - the former site of the Elmhurst Gas Tanks - was originally quoted at just under $2 million in July 2010. The city has since raised the price tag to nearly $2.3 million. And parkgoers continue a scramble to find places to relieve themselves nine months after the park opened.

CONYERS ON PAYROLL TAX BILL: 'I DID NOT READ THE BILL BEFORE IT WAS VOTED ON' [VIDEO]
Following the passage of the payroll tax cut and unemployment benefits extension, Democratic Michigan Rep. John Conyers, the ranking member on the Judiciary Committee, explained to The Daily Caller how he had not read the legislation prior to voting for it.
Conyers was asked by TheDC why he supported the legislation when the payroll tax cut portion of the bill was not funded by spending cuts.

CHICAGO TEACHERS ASKING FOR 30% RAISES OVER NEXT 2 YEARS
The Chicago Teachers Union is asking for raises amounting to 30 percent over the next two years, the opening salvo in heated contract negotiations with school officials who are implementing a longer school day across Chicago Public Schools next school year.
Documents obtained by the Tribune show that in the face of Mayor Rahm Emanuel's expansion of the school day, the union has led with an offer seeking a 24 percent raise in the 2012-13 school year and a 5 percent increase the following year, the net effect being 30 percent.

Of that figure, more than $150,000 went to the Democratic National Committee (DNC); $19,200 went to President Obama.

A judge that President Obama nominated for a district court bench "has thrown out a Louisiana law that bans certain sex offenders from Facebook and other social networking sites," WDSU reports. "U.S. District Judge Brian Jackson ruled Thursday that the prohibition-which took effect in August-was too broad and infringed on constitutionally protected speech."
Louisiana governor Bobby Jindal, a Republican, blasted Jackson's ruling in a statement.

FAMILY IN JAIL FOR ERIC HOLDER'S CRIME
The investigation into the Gunwalker scandal code-named "Fast & Furious" has passed the one-year mark. During that time Congressional investigators have put barely a chip in the stone wall established by Eric Holder and his Justice Department.
So far, fewer than 20 percent of the documents requested by congressional investigators have been produced by the DOJ. There have been a couple of resignations and a few reassignments, and one Justice Department official has refused to testify on Fifth Amendment grounds, but so far there hasn't been the slightest indication that anyone involved is going to spend a single day in jail.
