The vision

Doug Phillips, the founder of the San Antonio Independent Christian Film, wrote, "Henry Van Til correctly observed that "culture is religion externalized." By this, he meant that the culture of a people reflects their true religious priorities. The music, paintings, and film of a nation (not to mention the thousands of daily cultural expressions - how we live, eat, work, and entertain ourselves) express our priorities, our values, and our true faith.

film festival doug phillips

Doug Phillips, the founder, articulates the vision.

"The Bible teaches that all men have faith, in that they either worship the creature or they worship the Creator, but no man is free from religious commitment. When a people worship sensuality or embrace dark visions of reality, it is always evidenced in the arts. There is no neutrality! On the other hand, when a nation fears and loves the God of Holy Scripture, their religious commitment is evidenced in the music they play, the way they dress, and their vision of family life.

"The fact is that America is discontent with Hollywood's negative, monopolistic stranglehold on film and culture. The humanistic religious worldview of Hollywood elites created a rift in American culture and profoundly damaged the American family. We intend to respond, not by cursing the darkness, but by lighting candles. Building a community of independent Christian filmmakers is one such candle."

Read the rest of Doug's vision for supplanting Hollywood altogether.

THE "COMPROMISE" THAT IS NO COMPROMISE
By Michele Bachmann

From the Great Compromise of 1787 to the Compromise of 1850, compromises are etched into our nation's history. Unfortunately, President Obama's recent "compromise" with our nation's religious employers is not a compromise at all.

On January 20, when the Obama Administration announced a new Obamacare mandate requiring religious employers to provide free contraceptives to their employees, there was an outcry across the nation.

Why would the President ever ask religious Americans to violate their moral conscience by forcing them to provide abortifacients, or pills that cause abortions? Since that announcement, churches have been staking their ground against the President's decision.

Thousands of Roman Catholic priests and bishops read their congregations a stirring and thought provoking letter during Sunday Mass Services. Countless news programs revolved around this controversial Obamacare provision. Many pundits wondered why a President up for re-election in November would make such a damaging

It will be aired on this coming season of TLC's 19 Kids and Counting,
Michelle, 45, and her husband Jim Bob were devastated when she suffered the miscarriage last December.

The reality stars discovered their 20th child no longer had a heartbeat during a doctors appointment on December 8.

Michelle had a natural miscarriage three days later before she was taken into hospital.

The family also gathered for a memorial ceremony in Springdale, Arkansas, held in honour of little Jubilee Shalom.

Michelle told America's People magazine: 'I feel a great sorrow and grief, and yet at the same time I have a peace in my heart.'

'This is so sad, but I have peace. There are people praying for us and angels surrounding our home, and there was peace in the sorrow and the grief. Those feelings are mingled together.'
The season six premiere will air on February 14 at 9/8c.

OBAMA CALLED OUT ON 'SLEIGHT OF HAND' OVER ABORTIONS

Christians who balked at Barack Obama's requirements that they pay for abortion pills through their health insurance plans say his concession to accommodate their faith and beliefs just doesn't do enough.

"The Obama administration's rule change doesn't change anything. Employees will still pay for this coverage," said Senior Counsel Doug Napier of the Alliance Defense Fund.

He was referencing Obama's statement today that he wants to have insurance companies reach out directly to employees for contraception, sterilization, and abortifacient drugs when the employer has religious objections to those procedures.

OBAMA BUDGET SLATED FOR $3.8 TRILLION BUDGET; $1.4 TRILLION IN NEW TAXES

The White House rolled out its new $3.8 trillion budget Monday, promising major investments to spur a manufacturing revival in the U.S. while walking a fine line between the August debt accords and President Barack Obama's fear that too much austerity now will spell trouble for the economy-and his own reelection chances in November.

From Justice to Defense and Homeland Security, as many as six cabinet level departments or agencies will see their budget shrink in compliance with the new appropriations caps. But Obama would also go outside the box by creating new mandatory spending initiatives costing tens of billions of dollars and for the first time, openly tap war savings to fund his domestic agenda.
