Join Thousands in San Antonio for Christian Film Event of the Year
One of the top highlights of my year is attending the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival with my bride Amy. Adam and Amy McManusIf you've never brought your family to enjoy some of the 50 God-honoring films of every genre on 4 screens during this 3-day event right in our own backyard, then register today.
It will feature more than 50 films to choose from including such films as Courageous and Seven Days in Utopia. The price is remarkably competitive and worth every dime! Plus, you'll meet wonderful, like-minded Christian families from across the nation.
The Film Festival will be held Thursday, February 23rd through Saturday, February 25th at the Gonzalez Convention Center in downtown San Antonio, Texas. Plus, enjoy dozens of other exciting new Christian dramas, documentaries, comedies, and short films. The vision Henry Van Til correctly observed that "culture is religion externalized." By this, he meant that the culture of a people reflects their true religious priorities. The music, paintings, and film of a nation (not to mention the thousands of daily cultural expressions - how we live, eat, work, and entertain ourselves) express our priorities, our values, and our true faith.
Doug Phillips articulates the vision. The Bible teaches that all men have faith, in that they either worship the creature or they worship the Creator, but no man is free from religious commitment. When a people worship sensuality or embrace dark visions of reality, it is always evidenced in the arts. There is no neutrality! On the other hand, when a nation fears and loves the God of Holy Scripture, their religious commitment is evidenced in the music they play, the way they dress, and their vision of family life.
The fact is that America is discontent with Hollywood's negative, monopolistic stranglehold on film and culture. The humanistic religious worldview of Hollywood elites created a rift in American culture and profoundly damaged the American family. We intend to respond, not by cursing the darkness, but by lighting candles. Building a community of independent Christian filmmakers is one such candle. Learn more detail about the Christian Film Festival and Academy.

Texas Governor Rick Perry raised some eyebrows at a presidential debate shortly before he dropped out of the race, when he identified Turkey as having an Islamist government. Once we admit this reality collectively, as a nation, we can take the very disturbing, yet necessary, next step.
The man who was perhaps most instrumental in Turkey's transformation from a secular government to an Islamist one is Fethullah Gulen. He did so through speeches, propaganda, and charter schools in America including one in Austin, Texas, though his followers insist he's not involved in the curriculum of those schools.

GEORGIA COURT TOLD OBAMA SLAM-DUNK DISQUALIFIED
Georgia citizens today delivered sworn testimony to a court that Barack Obama is slam-dunk disqualified from having his name on the 2012 presidential ballot in the state, because his father never was a U.S. citizen, which prevents him from qualifying as a "natural-born citizen" as the U.S. Constitution requires for a president.
The historic hearing was the first time that a court has accepted arguments on the merits of the controversy over Obama's status. His critics say he never met the constitutional requirements to occupy the Oval Office, and the states and Congress failed in their obligations to make sure only a qualified president is inaugurated. His supporters, meanwhile, argue he won the 2008 election and therefore was "vetted" by America.

REAGAN AUTHOR SHIRLEY: ROMNEY ATTACK OF GINGRICH IS 'PREPOSTEROUS'
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney's contention that Newt Gingrich isn't really a Reaganite is "preposterous," historian Craig Shirley writes in an Op-Ed in South Florida's Sun Sentinel.
Shirley, author of three books about President Ronald Reagan, noted that, when Romney was asked about his conservative credentials during his run for the Senate in 1994, he replied: "I was an independent during the time of Reagan-Bush. I'm not trying to return to Reagan-Bush."
"From the beginning of his political career, Gingrich was always at the ramparts as a staunch ally of the Reagan White House, from tax cuts to anti-communism to Federalism to pro-life and in all manner of great fights in that decade of Great Debates," the Reagan Scholar at Eureka College wrote.

Video supposedly showing Newt Gingrich bashing Reaganism just at the end of Ronald Reagan's presidency was edited to put the then-up-an-coming congressman in a bad light, it has turned out.
The C-SPAN video, titled "Newt Gingrich bad-mouths Ronald Reagan in 1998" on YouTube, was part of a huge coordinated campaign against Gingrich that was launched on Thursday, five days ahead of the vital Florida primary.
| Newt Gingrich bad-mouths Ronald Reagan in 1988 |
But it cuts off before Gingrich explains what he means. In the portion shown on YouTube, Gingrich talks about the Republican Party's chances after Reagan leaves office. "On Election Day, the American people, given a choice of more of eight years or something new, will vote for something new," he said. But what the clip does not show is Gingrich's rationale behind his statement, which shows he was not bashing Reaganism, but merely suggesting that then-Vice President George Bush needed to take it forward. Insisting in a 2000 New York Times interview that he had been "through two tough divorce depositions in my life and I told the truth both times," Gingrich has long justified his votes in favor of all four of the impeachment counts against Clinton on the basis of the president's alleged perjury. In the increasingly rough Republican campaign, no candidate has wrapped himself in the mantle of Ronald Reagan more often than Newt Gingrich. "I worked with President Reagan to change things in Washington," "we helped defeat the Soviet empire," and "I helped lead the effort to defeat Communism in the Congress" are typical claims by the former speaker of the House. The claims are misleading at best. As a new member of Congress in the Reagan years - and I was an assistant secretary of state - Mr. Gingrich voted with the president regularly, but equally often spewed insulting rhetoric at Reagan, his top aides, and his policies to defeat Communism. Gingrich was voluble and certain in predicting that Reagan's policies would fail, and in all of this he was dead wrong. read story ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DOLE ASSAILS GINGRICH IN PLEA TO CONSERVATIVES

HOW REAGAN-BUSH COULD'VE ENDED ABORTION
Last week marked the 39th anniversary of Roe v. Wade, the U.S. Supreme Court decision that permitted abortions. Prior to that case, abortion was regulated by each state, and most of them prohibited it unless two physicians could certify that the baby growing in the mother's womb would likely result in the death of the mother. Even the states that permitted abortions when the pregnancy was caused by rape or incest, an extremely rare occurrence, did not permit it after the sixth month of pregnancy.
Roe v. Wade changed all that. It permits abortions in all 50 states during the first three months of pregnancy for any reason or for no reason. It permits abortions during the second three months of pregnancy for the health of the mother. "Health of the mother" can mean mental health; thus, most states have taken the liberal position that if a continued pregnancy would make the mom sad or challenge her psychologically, or if she has second thoughts about the pregnancy, the baby may be aborted.

ATTENTION SAN ANTONIO AREA HUNTERS: CAN YOU VOLUNTEER ON A CHRISTIAN YOUTH HUNT?
Over the course of my 20-year career as a radio talk show host, I've met and interviewed a lot of fascinating people. Many of them are household names which you would recognize instantly.
Tom Snyder, the 46-year-old owner of the regional Colonial Life Insurance office here in Garden Ridge, has got to be one of the most intriguing people I've met in a long time. He's not famous. He's not a political leader. And he hasn't even written a book.
But he's spearheading a unique Christian ministry in our own backyard whose vision is as big as the Texas sky.
Tom Snyder, founder of Trinity Oaks, teaches a young boy on a Youth Hunt. If you would like to volunteer to be a guide, call 210.447.351. Now that he has become a successful businessman, Tom, a member of River City Community Church here in San Antonio, has a passion to give back to the community - especially to the children in demonstrable, life-changing ways.
That's why he founded Trinity Oaks, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. At the heart of the ministry are the youth hunts for 10 to 16-year-olds. Throughout their time, the young people experience firearms safety instruction, target shooting and actual big game hunting.
In the process, Tom wants to give the tweens and teens access to the great outdoors, to build their character, and to teach them the importance of responsibility in our narcissistic culture.

10 to 16-year-old boys, like the ones pictured above on a Trinity Oaks Youth Hunt develop self-confidence, an appreciation of God's creation and connect with the volunteer hunting guides.
"Our goal with youth is three-fold. First, we want to teach kids that hunting is not just about 'killing animals', but also about building relationships and enjoying God's majestic outdoors. Second, we want to promote our country's hunting heritage to future generations," said Tom Snyder.
"Third and most importantly, we want to show children of all ages that they have value and let them know there are people who care about them, people willing to listen to them and mentor them. We have found you can really reach a child and make a difference in his life just by sitting next to a campfire and listening to what he has to say."
During the 2010/2011 hunting season alone, Tom personally acted as the lead field guide for every one of the 20 youth hunts attended by 85 young people, 53 of whom were first-time hunters. Typically, each hunt is comprised of 3-5 youngsters along with their fathers and some volunteer guides. Each youth is assigned to an adult.
Their goal for the upcoming 2011/2012 hunting season is to have 30 youth hunts attended by 100 kids and 75 first-time children hunters.
Amazingly, Trinity Oaks covers every single expense including the cost of transportation, the lease of the land, the hunting license fees as well as the food, lodging and the mounting of the child's wildgame trophy.
All the meat is processed for free by volunteers, ground up and frozen into family packs. It's then distributed to needy families and homeless shelters throughout San Antonio as well as orphanages in Mexico.
ACTION STEPS FOR ADAM'S ARMY: 1. If you would like to suggest a boy or girl between the ages of 10 and 16 to participate in a future Trinity Oaks youth hunt, please call 210.447.0351, and tell them you are a McManus subscriber, or email.
2. If you would like to volunteer to become a guide or firearms trainer for some of the youth hunts, please call 210.447.0351 and tell them you are a McManus subscriber or e-mail.
3. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to Trinity Oaks to ensure that the Youth Hunts and Wounded Warrior Hunts continue, donate on-line here.
The cost of sending one underprivileged kid on a Christian Youth Hunt is $1,200. And now, thanks to the generosity of one sponsor, anything that you give up to $100,000 will be doubled.
So, if you give $150 today, your donation will be doubled to $300 and fund one-quarter of the $1,200 cost for one kid to participate in this life-changing ministry.
You can also make a tax-deductible donation by check made out to "Trinity Oaks." Send it to: Tom Snyder, Trinity Oaks, 9385 Miller Lane, San Antonio, Texas 78266. Despite a heavy tax burden, Warren Buffett's secretary last year was able to purchase a second home in Arizona, a residence complete with a swimming pool and a "professional PGA putting green," according to real estate records.
Debra Bosanek, 55, and her husband Gerald bought the 2100-square-foot home in Surprise, a city outside Phoenix. The Bosaneks paid $144,000 for the four-bedroom, two-and-a-half bath property (the purchase was financed, in part, by a $115,200 mortgage).

One in five young Germans has no idea that Auschwitz was a Nazi death camp, a poll released Wednesday showed, two days ahead of Holocaust memorial day.
Although 90 percent of those asked did know it was a concentration camp, the poll for Thursday's edition of Stern news magazine revealed that Auschwitz meant nothing to 21 percent of 18-29 year olds.

The Tennessean reported Thursday that the police incident report describes officers responding to a "passenger being irate," but the footage offers no visible evidence of that behavior.

Fighting to curry favor with Florida's large pool of Hispanic voters, Newt Gingrich on Wednesday called for a guest-worker program for most illegal immigrants, but his campaign could not say whether those people would be on a path to citizenship - the key question in the immigration debate.

Under close questioning by Univision's political host, Jorge Ramos, Mr. Gingrich said he would grant quick citizenship rights to illegal immigrants who join the military or to those who have been in the U.S. between 20 and 25 years. He said the rest of the estimated 11 million should be given access to a guest-worker program.

You probably heard the news that House Republicans voted overwhelmingly last week to oppose another $1.2 trillion hike in the debt limit.
Why would 240 Republican House members vote to oppose a hike in the debt limit this month when only 22 of them opposed a hike in the debt limit last summer?

In his State of the Union message, President Obama described the U.S. economy as on the rebound. He also tried to convince skeptics that he was being aggressive on developing domestic energy, rolling back burdensome regulations and working to reduce our national debt.
But Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-Texas) tells WND the facts are far different from the rhetoric.

Radio giant Rush Limbaugh wasted no time today attacking President Obama's State of the Union address, calling it a fantasyland packed with untruth.
"It was chock-full of lies. It was fantasyland. No, it didn't soar. It was boring," Limbaugh said.

Six Americans working for publicly funded U.S. organizations promoting democracy in Egypt have been barred from leaving the country, provoking angry demands in Washington that Cairo's new military rulers stop "endangering American lives".
Among those hit by travel bans - one of those targeted called it "de facto detention" - is a son of U.S. Transportation Secretary Ray LaHood, as well as other foreign staffers of the International Republican Institute and National Democratic Institute, officials at the two organizations said on Thursday.

RUSH: I spent probably 12 hours on the airplane yesterday. I was getting e-mails. I did a lot of work, and as I'm in the air, I get a note from Brian Maloney. "Radio Equalizer" is his blog. He tells me that Warren Buffett's secretary is gonna be an invited guest in the House gallery. That's all the note said.
Now, "invited guests," do you know when this started? It started with Ronaldus Magnus. Some guy named Lenny Skutnik dove into the Potomac to rescue passengers of an Air Florida flight that had crashed on takeoff.

Warren Buffett's secretary, Debbie Bosanek, served as a stage prop for President Obama's State of the Union speech. She was the president's chief display of the alleged unfairness of our tax system - a little person paying a higher tax rate than her billionaire boss.
Bosanek's prominent role in Obama's "fairness" campaign piqued my curiosity, and I imagine the curiosity of others. How much does her boss pay this downtrodden woman? So far, no one has volunteered this information.

Steven Spielberg is near to etching in stone with Warner Bros on that biopic portraying the Jewish leader as the warrior to beat all warriors. With a working title of Gods And Kings, what's envisioned is "a movie like a Braveheart-ish version of the Moses story," an insider tells us.
"Him coming down the river, being adopted, leaving his home, forming an army, and getting the Ten Commandments." And despite the awesome screen possibilities of the parting of the Red Sea, the movie isn't being contemplated in 3D. Back in 1956, Paramount released The Ten Commandments in VistaVision to give moviegoers a more spectacular experience of scenes like that. But this film is as far from a remake of the Cecile B. DeMille-directed epic as you can get even though they cover similar ground.
Instead Warner Bros wants Spielberg to direct it with the gritty reality of Saving Private Ryan, which is considered a masterpiece redefining battle movies. "There have been glossy versions of the Moses story but this would be a real warrior story," an insider tells us.

A government watchdog says U.S. taxpayers are still owed $132.9 billion that companies haven't repaid from the financial bailout, and some of that will never be recovered.
The bailout launched at the height of the financial crisis in September 2008 will continue to exist for years, says a report issued Thursday by Christy Romero, the acting special inspector general for the $700 billion bailout. Some bailout programs, such as the effort to help homeowners avoid foreclosure by reducing mortgage payments, will last as late as 2017, costing the government an additional $51 billion or so.
