SAN ANTONIO AIR FORCE BASE CASKET PHOTO AN INSIDE JOKE
The Air Force said Monday it would not charge trainees who posed for a photo that included one of them pretending to be dead in a transfer case - the kind used for fallen troops.
An investigation by an officer from Lackland AFB's 37th Training Group found that the photo of the airmen, who were learning to palletize and load cargo planes, was an inside joke.
The airman in the casket had a rope around his neck used to stop a plane or vehicle from rolling. A chain, used to secure pallets, was draped over his body.

TEXAN ALLEGEDLY MADE DAUGHTER, 14, BE PROSTITUTE
A Houston-area man and his girlfriend have been accused of forcing her 14-year-old daughter into prostitution at truck stops and apartments.
Court documents indicate Reynaldo Alaniz of Pasadena and the girl's mother are jailed on charges of compelling prostitution and human trafficking, in alleged incidents last summer.

PREGNANT HIT-AND-RUN VICTIM DIED FROM BLOOD CLOT
The death of a hit-and-run victim in San Marcos a day after she gave birth to a healthy baby girl was caused by a blood clot, according to a Travis County medical examiner's office autopsy report.
Diann Ford, 22 and 37 weeks pregnant, was struck by a car as she walked across the Interstate 35 access road on the night of Oct. 25, police said.

The government faces a fourth year of trillion-plus deficits in 2012, according to new projections released Tuesday-numbers which also show little relief in the future unless Washington comes to grips with needed changes in its tax and spending policies.

Former Florida Gov. Charlie Crist said he thinks President Barack Obama has been "trying awfully hard" to do the right things for the country, and he wouldn't rule out voting for him.
Crist, who left the Republican Party during his unsuccessful 2010 U.S. Senate bid to run as an independent, told MSNBC's Chuck Todd he would "consider" voting for Obama in November. 
"Consider? Sure, I would consider that," said Crist. "I really think he's sincere and genuine. I think we have a lot time, a lot of issues to talk about, but I think, in his heart, he's trying to do what's right for the country overall."

The Obama reelection campaign is providing headquarters staff, field organizers and volunteers the ability to take campaign donations with their mobile phones. 
Campaign personnel are being issued Square mobile credit card readers, allowing them to process donations with their iPhone or Android phones, a campaign official tells POLITICO. The rollout will happen nationwide, and involve staff at all levels. read story

A confident Mitt Romney solidified his lead in Florida polls and ridiculed Republican rival Newt Gingrich on Monday, calling his opponent's attacks "sad" and "painfully revealing" the day before the state's crucial presidential primary. Romney's self-assuredness was on full display during a campaign tour that felt at times like a victory lap, with the front-runner telling a crowd of 2,000 in Dunedin, Florida: "With a turnout like this I got a feeling we might win tomorrow."

FIVE REASONS SO MANY GRASSROOTS CONSERVATIVES DON'T LIKE MITT ROMNEY
It's a mystery to some people why so many Tea Partiers and grassroots conservatives can't stand Mitt Romney. What is it about him that turns them off so much that at one time or another, they've preferred Donald Trump, Michele Bachmann, Rick Perry, Herman Cain, Rick Santorum, and Newt Gingrich to him nationally despite the fact that he has every advantage in the race? Would Mitt Romney be better than Barack Obama? Sure, but there are some very good reasons that so many grassroots conservatives still find him to be a thoroughly unlikable candidate. 
1) He's not a conservative. There have been a lot of conservatives who've talked a good game during the primaries and then have let us down in D.C., but if Mitt Romney becomes the nominee and gets elected, some people seem to be hoping that he'll be the first Republican moderate to go to D.C. and turn into a fire-breathing conservative. Newt Gingrich threatened Monday to skip any debate as the Republican nominee versus President Obama that's moderated by a member of the media.
"As your nominee, I will not accept debates in the fall in which the reporters are the moderators," Gingrich said at a rally in Pensacola. "We don't need to have a second Obama person at the debate." The threat is in keeping with the scorn with which the former House speaker has treated the press throughout the campaign, particularly at debates. Gingrich most notably won a standing ovation by angrily dismissing a question at a South Carolina debate having to do with extramarital allegations made by an ex-wife.

Newt Gingrich is the man Obama "will be befuddled by", says his close friend Gay Gaines. 
THE FLOOR to ceiling windows of Gay Gaines's beachfront property overlook the Atlantic Ocean. "We had a plane land on our beach yesterday. We were hoping it was carrying money for Newt," jokes Gaines, who describes herself as Gingrich's confidante, fundraiser and very close friend. When Gaines sent her housekeeper out to investigate, she learned the plane had merely run out of petrol. Mitt Romney is outspending Gingrich five-to-one in Florida, according to Fox News, and the result is showing. In the run-up to tomorrow's primary, a Reuters/Ipsos poll has Romney leading with 43 per cent to Gingrich's 32 per cent. It's getting even uglier here in Florida. Newt Gingrich, already on the warpath, has taken his anti-Romney rhetoric up a notch today by repeatedly describing Romney as "a liberal" and citing George Soros, the billionaire Leftist, as saying that there is no difference between the former Massachusetts governor and President Barack Obama.  The former House Speaker appears to have abandoned his "Massachusetts moderate" characterisation of his opponent in favour of the more incendiary "liberal" - a label that even most Democrats hate being tarred with. Speaking to a CNN reporter in a gaggle of journalists before an event in Tampa, Gingrich said: "George Soros gave us the perfect answer yesterday. SANTORUM PROMISES HIGH ROAD, 'WE'LL BEAT THEM STRAIGHT UP'
Rick Santorum attracted a full auditorium of more than 300 people at St. Charles Community College here this afternoon, with an overflow crowd of more than 100 more waiting to meet the former senator in a field outside the building.
On a tele-town hall Sunday night, Santorum billed the event as an address on America's failing education system, but he used much of his speech to introduce himself to Missouri voters and position himself as the candidate best-suited to take on President Obama.

SANTORUM TO NEWT: STOP TELLING ME TO DROP OUT
As I reported this morning, Newt Gingrich is pleading with Florida voters not to "waste" their votes on Rick Santorum, asserting that he alone is the only conservative alternative to Mitt Romney with a chance to win. Given the state's polling picture, that's not an entirely unreasonable argument to advance, but Newt has taken his rhetoric a step further by calling on Santorum and Ron Paul to drop out of the race and unite behind him. ACTRESS "CLARIFIES" REMARK ABOUT BEING LESBIAN BY CHOICE
Actress Cynthia Nixon is trying to clarify her earlier remarks that got her in hot water with some fellow sodomite rights activists.
Cynthia Nixon, an actress, initially claimed that embracing lesbianism was indeed a choice.
The "Sex and the City" star's personal life became an exercise in the politics of sexual preference last week when The New York Times Magazine quoted Nixon saying that for her, being lesbian was a conscious choice. Nixon has been in a relationship with a woman for eight years. Before that, she spent 15 years and had two children with a man.
After some gay rights activists complained that Nixon's remarks could be used to deny a biological basis for homosexuality, the actress on Monday released a statement to The Advocate magazine explaining she is technically bisexual, and not by choice.

What if Starbucks lost 80% of its customers? Christians across the USA are boycotting Starbucks for promoting homosexual 'marriage' in Washington State. There is an 80% Christian majority in the USA and 1-2% homosexuals.
"Christians are upset with Starbucks for turning against God, but we are glad to know that Starbucks doesn't pretend to be for Christians," said Pastor Steven Andrew, who is president of USA Christian Ministries. He calls every Christian and church to boycott Starbucks. Leviticus 22:18 says, "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination."
"This boycott is important because God blesses those who obey Him and judges those who don't obey Him (2 Chronicles 19:2)," he adds.
Don't expect to hear sermons with "grab your Starbucks" or to see Starbucks served at churches. "Starbucks is no longer fashionable. If your church still uses Starbucks, then your pastor is a friend of the world," he adds. God calls those who oppose Him "haters of God" (Romans 1:30).

DIVERS ABANDON SEARCH FOR MISSING ON SINKING CRUISE SHIP COSTA CONCORDIA
Italian emergency officials are ending the search for missing people in the submerged part of the Costa Concordia cruise ship due to the danger to rescue workers.
Italy's Civil Protection agency said on Tuesday that technical studies indicated the deformed hull of the ship created too many safety concerns to continue the search within it. Relatives of the missing and diplomatic officials representing their countries have been informed of the decision, it said in a statement.

A Montara man walking two lapdogs off leash was hit with an electric-shock gun by a National Park Service ranger after allegedly giving a false name and trying to walk away, authorities said Monday.

Over the course of my 20-year career as a radio talk show host, I've met and interviewed a lot of fascinating people. Many of them are household names which you would recognize instantly.
Tom Snyder, the 46-year-old owner of the regional Colonial Life Insurance office here in Garden Ridge, has got to be one of the most intriguing people I've met in a long time. He's not famous. He's not a political leader. And he hasn't even written a book.
But he's spearheading a unique Christian ministry in our own backyard whose vision is as big as the Texas sky.

Now that he has become a successful businessman, Tom, a member of River City Community Church here in San Antonio, has a passion to give back to the community - especially to the children in demonstrable, life-changing ways.
That's why he founded Trinity Oaks, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. At the heart of the ministry are the youth hunts for 10 to 16-year-olds. Throughout their time, the young people experience firearms safety instruction, target shooting and actual big game hunting.
In the process, Tom wants to give the tweens and teens access to the great outdoors, to build their character, and to teach them the importance of responsibility in our narcissistic culture.
10 to 16-year-old boys, like the ones pictured above on a Trinity Oaks Youth Hunt develop self-confidence, an appreciation of God's creation and connect with the volunteer hunting guides.
"Our goal with youth is three-fold. First, we want to teach kids that hunting is not just about 'killing animals', but also about building relationships and enjoying God's majestic outdoors. Second, we want to promote our country's hunting heritage to future generations," said Tom Snyder.
"Third and most importantly, we want to show children of all ages that they have value and let them know there are people who care about them, people willing to listen to them and mentor them. We have found you can really reach a child and make a difference in his life just by sitting next to a campfire and listening to what he has to say."
During the 2010/2011 hunting season alone, Tom personally acted as the lead field guide for every one of the 20 youth hunts attended by 85 young people, 53 of whom were first-time hunters. Typically, each hunt is comprised of 3-5 youngsters along with their fathers and some volunteer guides. Each youth is assigned to an adult.
Their goal for the upcoming 2011/2012 hunting season is to have 30 youth hunts attended by 100 kids and 75 first-time children hunters.
Amazingly, Trinity Oaks covers every single expense including the cost of transportation, the lease of the land, the hunting license fees as well as the food, lodging and the mounting of the child's wildgame trophy.
All the meat is processed for free by volunteers, ground up and frozen into family packs. It's then distributed to needy families and homeless shelters throughout San Antonio as well as orphanages in Mexico.
