SANTIKOS TO CONSTRUCT EIGHTH SAN ANTONIO THEATER
For some moviegoers, the coming attractions are something to look forward to. Well, this coming attraction isn't a new movie but a new movie theater.
San Antonio-based Santikos Theatres has plans to build its eighth theater in the Alamo City on 26 acres at Potranco Road and Loop 1604 on the city's far West Side. Santikos expects to break ground on the 16-screen Granada Theater on May 1 and expects to complete it by late December, said Chris Taylor, the company's director of operations.

PERRY RE-ELECTION? HE'D LIKE YOU TO THINK SO
Texans said they didn't want Gov. Rick Perry to run for president, but he did. Now they say he shouldn't run for re-election - but if Perry's leaning against the idea, don't expect to hear it from him.
Perry spokesman Ray Sullivan repeatedly says Perry may run again for governor in 2014. To say anything else would damage a governor already battered by a presidential run that exposed his weaknesses to a national audience.

PRO-LIFE RALLY IN AUSTIN DRAWS THOUSANDS TO TEXAS CAPITAL, INCLUDING MATT BEEBE, TEXAS STATE REP IN DISTRICT 121
Several thousand people flooded the capital Saturday in support of recently passed anti-abortion legislation. My bride Amy, our son Honor, our newborn daughter Mercy and I joined Matt Beebe, candidate for Texas State Rep. District 121, and his wife Nicole and their children Hannah and Joshua to march and rally for the precious, innocent babies in the womb.  My bride Amy McManus pushing our newborn Mercy in the stroller at the Texas Rally for Life on Saturday in Austin. Beebe was endorsed by Carol Everett, speaker at the Texas Rally for Life, along with a slew of San Antonio, Texas and national pro-life leaders in his GOP Primary race against liberal Joe Straus. Straus has voted for third-trimester abortions, embryonic stem cell research, accepted $1,000 from Planned Parenthood and commendation by Planned Parenthood for his "tireless efforts." The annual Texas Rally for Life -- held on the Saturday after the anniversary of the Supreme Court's 1973 Roe vs. Wade decision affirming a woman's right to an abortion - drew a diverse crowd from across the state. 
Carrying signs and banners, they marched about 15 blocks to the south steps of the state Capitol.
There, Attorney General Greg Abbott U.S. Sen. John Cornyn, and former abortion provider Carol Everett spoke to the spirited group.

WASH POST: OBAMA IS THE MOST POLARIZING PRESIDENT. EVER.
President Obama ran - and won - in 2008 on the idea of uniting the country. But each of his first three years in office has marked historic highs in political polarization, with Democrats largely approving of him and Republicans deeply disapproving.
For 2011, Obama's third year in office, an average of 80 percent of Democrats approved of the job he was doing in Gallup tracking polls, as compared to 12 percent of Republicans who felt the same way. That's a 68-point partisan gap, the highest for any president's third year in office - ever. (The previous high was George W. Bush in 2007, when he had a 59 percent difference in job approval ratings.)

LIMBAUGH: GOP ESTABLISHMENT WANTS TO ERASE TEA PARTY
The Republican establishment, which is backing former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney in his presidential bid, also is trying to erase the tea party, Rush Limbaugh said today on his radio show.
"The establishment Republicans are trying to take the tea party out," Limbaugh declared. "And this is another reason why, in the Republican primary, there is such fevered opposition to Romney and people who despise . . . the campaign that Romney is running."

GINGRICH PREDICTS 'STRAIGHT-OUT CONTEST' FOR MONTHS
A pugnacious Newt Gingrich reiterated his intention to stay in the Republican presidential primary "all the way to the convention," telling reporters Sunday morning that he believed that "this is going to be a straight-out contest for the next four or five months" between him and Mitt Romney.
Mr. Gingrich said after attending a morning service with 2,000 worshipers at the Exciting Idlewild Baptist Church that he didn't agree with polls that show him trailing in Florida, and in any case, he's not bowing out of the race.

NEWT GOES NUCLEAR: GINGRICH SLAMS 'PRO-ABORTION, PRO GUN-CONTROL, PRO TAX-INCREASE MODERATE' MITT ROMNEY
The obituaries for his campaign are already being written and Newt Gingrich doesn't like it one bit. Yesterday, an event at a Spanish-speaking church billed as a "Hispanic town hall" drew about 80 people, a number of whom had left by the time the candidate rolled in 55 minutes late.
Gingrich looked crestfallen. He spoke desultorily for just over six minutes and then abandoned the Question and Answer format, instead deciding that "Callista and I will come down and get pictures with each and every one of you and have a chance to say hi".

GINGRICH SLAMS ROMNEY DURING APPEARANCE AT EVANGELICAL FLORIDA CHURCH
Newt Gingrich, with the strength of his recent victory in South Carolina's primary and endorsement from former rival Herman Cain, attended Idlewild Baptist Church in Lutz, Fla. on Sunday.
Accompanying the former Speaker of the House was former Florida Attorney General Bill McCollum.

U.S. Republican Newt Gingrich scrambled to revive his fading hopes in Florida on Monday, lashing out at rival Mitt Romney as a liberal party insider the day before the state's crucial presidential primary.
Polls showed Romney with a commanding lead in the state, where Gingrich's attacks on the former head of a private equity firm as an elite friend of Wall Street have failed to make an impression with Republicans who cast ballots on Tuesday.

Former Sen. Fred Thompson (R-Tenn.) on Sunday attacked Mitt Romney for "unseemliness and overkill" in his aggressive campaign against Newt Gingrich, the candidate Thompson has endorsed.
Romney's "modus operandi, basically, is to play Mr. Nice Guy until somebody gets close to him," Thompson said on NBC's "Meet the Press." "And then he unleashes his attack machine. And that's what happened in Iowa and it's what's happening in Florida."

NEWT'S PROMISE: NO REPORTERS AS MODERATORS
Newt Gingrich lashed out at the media today during a rally in Pensacola, Florida, suggesting that all reporters are in the tank for President Obama:
"As your nominee, I will not accept debates in the fall in which the reporters are the moderators," he said, "because you don't need to have a second Obama person in the debate."
But Janet Brown, a spokesperson with the Commission on Presidential Debates, suggested that reporters are actually best suited to moderate the debates.

GINGRICH WINS TEA PARTY PATRIOTS STRAW POLL IN FLORIDA
Newt Gingrich won the Tea Party Straw Poll in Florida with 35 percent of the vote after a teleconference that the Tea Party Patriots sponsored Sunday night.
During the Tea Party Patriots Presidential Tele Forum of Republican presidential candidates, Florida activists and leaders questioned former House Speaker Gingrich, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum. Texas Rep. Ron Paul was invited but could not attend, the organization said.

Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich may well lose Tuesday's Florida primary to Mitt Romney, though that's not a slam dunk given the former House speaker's comeback in the latest polls. But, in any case, Gingrich's campaign has staying power, Politico reports.
He's in it for the long haul and anticipates entering the GOP convention in August with a strong hand. Someone who knows Gingrich pretty well warns it would be foolish to underestimate his tenacity.

The tough-guy Hollywood star - perhaps best known for his role in "Delta Force" and TV series "Walker, Texas Ranger" - endorsed Newt Gingrich more than a week ago and on Monday the former House speaker's campaign pointed to his words as evidence that the "mainstream media" and "Washington elite" are out of touch with the everyday voters.

CHUCK NORRIS: PROOF! VOTERS SMARTER THAN MEDIA, WASHINGTON ELITE
Despite that ABC paraded Newt's bitter ex-wife across their airways two nights before the South Carolina election, Newt won women's votes by 36 percent to 30 percent over Romney. And married women and evangelical women both backed Gingrich with 40 percent support. (Women in general backed Newt 38 percent, and men were 42 percent in support of him.)
Despite (or maybe, on account of) Mitt's Massachusetts creation of Romneycare and promises for Social Security's perpetuity, Newt gained 47 percent of the vote (to Mitt's 36 percent) among those ages 65 and older.
Despite the MSM's attempt to convey Newt as old and outdated, he received 27 percent of votes from among those 18-29 years of age, only being beaten by Ron Paul's 32 percent.
Despite the MSM's and Washington elite's campaign to convey that Newt would be dangerous to the country and world, 39 percent of U.S. veterans voted for Newt, compared to 32 percent for Romney.

THE CAIN MUTINY: FOLLOWERS DON'T FOLLOW HERMAN INTO THE GINGRICH CAMP
Herman Cain is desperately trying to be relevant again after, ahem, "suspending" his presidential campaign amid a torrent of reports about his extra-Mrs. Hermanator world. But it's not working.
He creeped back into the edge of the spotlight earlier this month by allowing Stephen Colbert to use him as his foil for Colbert's ongoing satire of the Citizens United decision/SuperPac wars.
And then, on Saturday - after Newt Gingrich essentially priced the traveling press off of his trail - Cain announced that he was "enthusiastically" endorsing Gingrich.

HERMAN CAIN: GINGRICH'S 9 POSITIVES BEAT ROMNEY
In a sea of negativity and distractions in the race for the Republican presidential nomination, I decided to throw my support behind former Speaker Newt Gingrich because I can now see much clearer distinctions between President Obama and Newt than I do between Governor Mitt Romney and the president.
These distinctions are between Obama's hodgepodge of foggy small ideas, which he talked about in his State of the Union address, and Speaker Gingrich's clear and bold solutions for solving the crises we face as a nation. And yes, my bold 9-9-9 tax reform plan is a serious consideration for Speaker Gingrich, which is why I accepted his invitation to co-chair his Economic Growth and Tax Reform Advisory Council.

Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez warned private banks on Sunday that he will consider nationalizing any that refuse to finance agricultural projects promoted by his government.
Banks are required by law in Venezuela to provide at least 10 percent of their lending to finance government development projects.

ARRESTING CHRISTIANS COSTS U.S. CITY $100,000
A judge in Detroit has ruled that the decision by police in neighboring Dearborn to arrest a Christian pastor who wanted to hand out Christian tracts at the city's Arab fest in 2009 will cost the city some $100,000.
That's the decision following a request from the pastor's attorneys that the losing side in the First Amendment argument over expressing religious perspectives on city streets be required to pay them for their work on behalf of Christian Pastor George Saieg.

UNIVERSITY BLASTED FOR INTOLERANCE OF CHRISTIANITY
The 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals has ordered a trial at the district level for a graduate level counseling student who was dismissed from her program for asking that a client with "gay" issues be referred to another counselor because as a Christian she could not affirm that lifestyle choice.
Officials at Eastern Michigan University took that action against Julea Ward, a student approaching the end of her degree program with a 3.91 grade point average, even though, as the appeals judges noted, the school's own practices in fact permitted such referrals.

MEDIA STUDY: TV NEWS BASHES ROMNEY, BOOSTS HORSE RACE
Frontrunner Mitt Romney is getting by far the most negative press of the GOP field, according to a new study of television news coverage by the Center for Media and Public Affairs at George Mason University. The study also found that the campaign horse race is getting over six times as much coverage as the candidates' positions on policy issues. According to CMPA director and George Mason University professor Robert Lichter, "The media love a horse race and hate a frontrunner."

Over the course of my 20-year career as a radio talk show host, I've met and interviewed a lot of fascinating people. Many of them are household names which you would recognize instantly.
Tom Snyder, the 46-year-old owner of the regional Colonial Life Insurance office here in Garden Ridge, has got to be one of the most intriguing people I've met in a long time. He's not famous. He's not a political leader. And he hasn't even written a book.
But he's spearheading a unique Christian ministry in our own backyard whose vision is as big as the Texas sky.

Now that he has become a successful businessman, Tom, a member of River City Community Church here in San Antonio, has a passion to give back to the community - especially to the children in demonstrable, life-changing ways.
That's why he founded Trinity Oaks, a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. At the heart of the ministry are the youth hunts for 10 to 16-year-olds. Throughout their time, the young people experience firearms safety instruction, target shooting and actual big game hunting.
In the process, Tom wants to give the tweens and teens access to the great outdoors, to build their character, and to teach them the importance of responsibility in our narcissistic culture.
10 to 16-year-old boys, like the ones pictured above on a Trinity Oaks Youth Hunt develop self-confidence, an appreciation of God's creation and connect with the volunteer hunting guides.
"Our goal with youth is three-fold. First, we want to teach kids that hunting is not just about 'killing animals', but also about building relationships and enjoying God's majestic outdoors. Second, we want to promote our country's hunting heritage to future generations," said Tom Snyder.
"Third and most importantly, we want to show children of all ages that they have value and let them know there are people who care about them, people willing to listen to them and mentor them. We have found you can really reach a child and make a difference in his life just by sitting next to a campfire and listening to what he has to say."
During the 2010/2011 hunting season alone, Tom personally acted as the lead field guide for every one of the 20 youth hunts attended by 85 young people, 53 of whom were first-time hunters. Typically, each hunt is comprised of 3-5 youngsters along with their fathers and some volunteer guides. Each youth is assigned to an adult.
Their goal for the upcoming 2011/2012 hunting season is to have 30 youth hunts attended by 100 kids and 75 first-time children hunters.
Amazingly, Trinity Oaks covers every single expense including the cost of transportation, the lease of the land, the hunting license fees as well as the food, lodging and the mounting of the child's wildgame trophy.
All the meat is processed for free by volunteers, ground up and frozen into family packs. It's then distributed to needy families and homeless shelters throughout San Antonio as well as orphanages in Mexico.
