The sudden appearance of a reporter's notebook and tape recorder drew comments befitting a group of young people who proudly wear their skepticism on their sleeves.

BACHMANN: LITTLE TIME TO SAVE AMERICAI have often been criticized for saying that I could turn around the U.S. economy in just a few short months. That is not blind optimism talking, but rather the realization that the biggest impediment to true economic recovery has been the signal President Obama's policies have been sending to the key audience for recovery, the job creators.
Should I be fortunate enough to be elected by the American people to serve as president of the United States, I will have an ambitious agenda in the first 100 days that will send a signal to our country's job creators and to the world that the days of socialist policies are over, that our free market is once again open for business and that we will once again lead the world as the true exceptional nation.

IOWA'S EVANGELICALS MOVING TO SANTORUMSigns that Rick Santorum is suddenly a contender in the race for the Republican nomination for president were all over Iowa on Thursday.
The former Pennsylvania senator - who has built his long-shot campaign around trying to appeal to evangelical Christians in the Iowa caucuses on Tuesday - received a boost when several prominent preachers said their followers were coalescing behind Santorum.

SANTORUM TAKES A DIFFERENT TACK, OUT OF NECESSITYA lot of things stand out about Rick Santorum's dogged bid for the Republican presidential nomination, many that buck conventional political wisdom and are the hallmarks of a campaign on a shoestring budget.
With the Iowa caucuses looming Tuesday, most candidates are rumbling across the state in garishly painted buses with loudspeakers blaring campaign music to announce their presence in usually tranquil Iowa towns. Santorum's vehicle of choice: Chuck Laudner's heavy-duty pickup - licensed in Floyd County - with the GOP activist at the wheel and aide Matt Beynon working in the back seat.

HOMOSEXUAL NATIVITY SCENE VANDALIZED AT LIBERAL CHURCHAn unusual nativity display at a Claremont church that portrayed homosexual couples was vandalized over the weekend in an incident authorities are investigating as a hate crime.
Claremont United Methodist Church has a Christmas tradition of unusual nativity displays, intended to carry a social or political message.
Despite some of the controversial topics, the scenes had never been vandalized or defaced, according to church officials and John Zachary, the artist who created the scenes.
But this year, suspects vandalized a nativity scene that included wooden light boxes with three couples holding hands -- a man and a woman, two women and two men -- under a star of Bethlehem and a sign that said "Christ is Born."

GERMAN VILLAGERS BUILD CHURCH ENTIRELY OUT OF SNOWA church built entirely out of snow and ice - sounds magical, and looks pretty too. It was built this year in the Bavarian forest by the villagers of Mitterfirmiansreut, Germany. Located close to the Czech border, the church is bathed in a beautiful blue light. It was opened to public on Wednesday evening, blessed by Dean Kajetan Steinbeisser. Although the villagers had hoped to have it open before Christmas, the lack of sufficient snow caused a delay in their project.
The snow church was constructed in commemoration of a similar church built in 1911, exactly 100 years ago. The older one was actually a sign of protest. In those days, the nearest church was in Mauth, a 90-minute hike away, which wasn't always easy to complete. The residents of the secluded Mitterfirmiansreut village then came up with the idea to build the snow church, in the hope that it would draw attention to their plight.
The winter of 1910/1911 was rich in snow, and the construction of the church began in Feb, 1911. Both men and women worked hard to place blocks of solid snow bricks, building a strong and sturdy church. The final structure was 14m long , 7m wide and 4m high. The first worship was held on the 28th of March, 1911.

THE MOST UNUSUAL JOB INTERVIEW QUESTIONS OF 2011For most of us, coming up with dazzling replies to the perennial standard interview queries -- say, "What's your greatest weakness?" or "Where do you see yourself in five years?" -- is plenty challenging. But what would you say if a hiring manager asked you, "What do you think of garden gnomes?" Or how about: "Would Mahatma Gandhi have made a good software engineer?"
To find the year's most unusual questions, researchers at career site Glassdoor combed through job seekers' reviews of about 115,000 interviews at more than 26,000 companies. Here is a sampling of what they found:

GREG LAURIE: THE POWER OF RESOLVEA lot of people believe in making New Year's resolutions, but personally, I believe in resolution. Every one of us should have resolution in our lives. We need goals. We need objectives. We need aspirations.
Here are the words of the apostle Paul after years of walking with God:
I do not consider myself to have "arrived," spiritually, nor do I consider myself already perfect. But I keep going on, grasping ever more firmly that purpose for which Christ grasped me. My brothers, I do not consider myself to have fully grasped it even now. But I do concentrate on this: I leave the past behind and with hands outstretched to whatever lies ahead I go straight for the goal - my reward the honour of being called by God in Christ. (Philippians 3:12-14)
