Major Latino Electoral Votes States Carried by Clinton
and Obama in 2008
|
Highlighted are 16 major states with 300 electoral votes in which 91% of the Latino vote is concentrated.
Bill Clinton carried 14 of these
states and picked up 257 electoral
votes in 1996, just 13 electoral
votes short of the number needed to be elected President. In the 2008
presidential primaries, Hillary Clinton carried 11 of these states representing 218 electoral votes, and Barack Obama carried 4 states representing 48 electoral votes. (Since Hillary Clinton won the primary but
Barack Obama won the caucus in Texas,
neither candidate is herein credited as having "technically" carried the state.)
