Latino Vote Concentrated in 16 Major Electoral Vote States

maps
Highlighted are 16 major electoral vote states in which 91% of the Latino vote is concentrated and 300 electoral votes can be won. Bill Clinton carried 14 of the 16 states in 1996. Al Gore carried 10 and lost. John Kerry carried only 9 and lost. The key for either party to win in 2008 lies in the number of Latino vote states carried. Please see pages 28-29 in the Almanac of Latino Politics for a list of the 16 major electoral vote states.

The Almanac of Latino Politics is made possible thanks to support from AARP, NEA, BAC and SEIU.

Consultation with Sponsors
Robert Morris CollegeRobert Morris College hosted USHLI's annual Consultation with Sponsors. Among the recommendations proposed were that USHLI create a USHLI Partners classification and include corporations, labor unions and trade organizations, and to design a new structure for contributions that would include program support and conference sponsorship.  Another recommendation was that all USHLI Partners should be invited to join USHLI's Advisory Board. The third recommendation was to expand exhibit show hours at our national conference on Thursday to include the Networking Reception and close the exhibit show at noon on Friday.

USHLI accepts tax-deductible contributions, as allowed by law, from individuals, foundation support, and donations from corporations, businesses, and labor unions. We do not receive nor accept local, state or federal funds. Contributions in any amount are greatly appreciated.

Donations from individuals are strongly encouraged because they help keep USHLI a constituency-driven organization with a constituency-based sustaining fund. Donors can choose to make a one-time donation or a recurring gift.
