Rounders Calendar Including Calgary Rehearsals (Click Here)

Hernando Desoto Parade: Saturday, April 30

Calgary Band Camp: Saturday, May 7

Osceola High School Concert: Thursday, May 12

Greetings!

It's what we rehearse for. It's why we joined. It's been a part of us since High School, or Middle School, or even Grade School.

It's why we've been members for five years, Ten...or even Twenty-nine. It's why we don't know what's on television Tuesday nights in March and April.  It's why our neighbors make additional trips to Publix while we practice.

It's not over till it's over and YOUR Rounders season isn't over!

Your season continues Saturday. This Saturday. In front of a paradelarge appreciative audience in
Manatee County. Our first appearance there. A Large, Appreciative crowd to see YOUR Rounders.

Please make the extra effort to join us Saturday. Just join us. If you're on the fence about coming to the parade...get down off that fence and join us! Much of what makes the Rounders...well, THE ROUNDERS, is a combination of size and sound. In a parade of this magnitude...every last player and twirler counts!

It's not over till it's over and YOUR Rounders season has a parade Saturday. Don't let us down. Be there and relive all the reasons that YOU are a Second Time Arounder. Be there!

Your Rounders Creative Team and Board.

All About Saturday's Parade...!

The city of Bradenton and the Hernando Desoto parade are only a short 30-40 minute drive from St. Petersburg (another reason for full attendance on Saturday). Here are the logistics and directions for Saturday.

Buses: Unfortunately with this Saturday also being "Grad Night" in our area, there simply were no buses available to transport us the short 30 minutes from St. Petersburg to Bradenton. The directions and logistics below will assist you in getting there easily either on your own or with a few of your Rounder friends.

Basics: The Hernando De Soto Parade is an evening parade beginning at 6:30 PM. Whether driving on your own or car pooling as below, we are being asked to arrive at the staging area no later than 4PM to avoid some traffic at this well attended parade. The parade committee has arranged for the Rounders to park at the end of the parade, at the Post Office; 812 Manatee Avenue West; roughly 21 miles from downtown St. Petersburg (a 30-40 minutes drive). Once parked, the parade committee has also arranged for a couple of school busses (not available to your Rounders from St. Petersburg (sorry), running several trips, to take you from the end of the parade to the beginning. Each bus will make 2-3 trips beginning just before 4PM. Please note that Manatee Ave West as you come over the river into Bradenton is a one way street going West, one block south is Manatee Ave East.  Your target is Manatee Ave West and 9th Street.  The Post office is on the East corner of that intersection.

This is a much shorter parade than Chasco...1.75 miles! Remember...your Rounders are about size and sound. We need YOU there!

Driving: Here is a link to create driving directions from your starting point to Rounders parking at 812 Manatee Avenue West. Driving Directions Link. Please add a little time to Google Maps recommended driving time to allow for the potential of pre-parade traffic close to the Post Office.

Car Pooling: Many Rounders are looking to meet at Tyrone Square Mall and Car Pool to the parade. We recommend meeting just before 3PM where you parked for the Tattoo in Dunedin (Northwest corner of Tyrone Mall in front of Penny's next to The Tires Plus Store). If you can drive and take a few more people...meet us there. If you would like a ride...meet us there. This is an informal gathering of drivers and riders to coordinate among yourselves. Fill a car...and go! Worse case...a couple more of you may need to drive, and take a few Rounders, than planned. Give it a try! Fill your cars quickly and try to get on the road by 3:10-3:15!

Spectators: This is a large parade with many viewing opportunities a short walk from the Rounders parking area. Just arrange to meet them again at the Post Office where you parked for the trip home!

Post Parade:  Many of your Rounders are meeting at Hooters at the Tyrone Square Mall. Management there has made another generous donation to the band. Especially if your car pooling, and are going to be right there, come join us post parade!

Hooters Tyrone Square Mall:  2250 Tyrone Sq. St. Petersburg.

Oh, and of course, "Don't forget your Hat!"

This and That...

For our next two performances...please remember that "White white shoesShoes" means "White Shoes." Your Rounders Shoes need to be pure white with no other marks on them at all...no exceptions! If yours aren't...you stand-out in a not so positive way. We had a few too many Rounders "stand out" at Tattoo and Chasco for the wrong reasons!! Thanks!

Don't forget the mandatory Calgary mini "Band Camp" comingband camp up Saturday, May 7th at Admiral Farragut 8:30 am-11:30 am. We will learn the entire Calgary show that day...so please plan on attending!

Please help keep your Rounders "healthy" with our operating expenses. We have received this season several registration forms without the recommended donation. Please mail your donation with your name and member number to: Rounders Registration PO Box 15062 St. Petersburg, FL 33733. Thank you!

The concert at Osceola High School concert on Thursday, May 12 is FREE and open to the public. We'll be providing additional details and logistics in the next Rounders newsletter.
