Rounders Calendar (Click Here)

Greetings!

PAST....PRESENT....FUTURE

PAST...

It is hard to believe that in our twenty-ninth year we have already had five rehearsals, two parades, one stand-up concert and one field show!

You have performed well.  The parades were fun and you looked and sounded pretty good.  The stand-up concert after the nightbill parade was one of the best we have ever done.

I thought the field show went extremely well with the music and the auxiliary was superb.  Other than some problems with the "thrill dance" of 36 - counts, I couldn't ask for a better performance.  The crowd loved you.

PRESENT....

Life is good.  We now have a couple of weeks to rest up and ponder the first part of the season behind us, rehearse at Osceola, and  look ahead to what's left.

FUTURE....

The best is yet to come....

And yet, this is a "test".  The band will be tested.  Sometimes, in the past when our performances were spread out over a few weeks, some members decided to hang up their marching shoes and not participate.  We will be tested to see if we are still a team of Rounders who count on each other to make every performance a rousing success.  It can't be done without YOU.  Stay the course and finish with the team.  We're counting on everyone to know what you are a part of, and belong to it.

April 19th we meet at Osceola High School at 7:00 p.m. in the auditorium  to practice our music and marching for Osceola High School Band's spring concert on May 12.

We really need each and every one of you to attend...as this is the pivitol rehearsal for the remainder of our season!

Bring all your music and lyres, as we will march down the aisles and form on stage.

April 30th is the Hernando DeSoto parade in Bradenton which starts at 6:30 p.m.   We need to be there by 5:00 p.m..  The Paradeparade is ½ mile shorter than Pasco but with the same size crowd.  This will be our first visit there, and we really want to make a major showing.  It is also a great recruiting tool.

May 7th is Band Camp at Admiral Farragut (for our Calgary Team!!), 8:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m.  The entire field show will be taught that morning.  It is very different from the Tattoo show.stampede logo 2  Everyone needs to be there.  We will be talking about Calgary in detail also.

May 12th  is the Osceola High School Spring Concert.

Thanks for being a Rounder.  It has been a great year so far.  We appreciate  every member - auxiliary, musician, the staff, the Board, every volunteer and sponsor....quite a team.

Never Stop Recruiting...!

SO.....you might say to yourself, "SELF.... now that our 2011 season has begun, there's no need to recruit any more!!".....NOT SO!!!!

Now that we're in mid-season form...this is the PERFECT TIME to get your friends, family, church members, co-workers out to polaroidSEE FOR THEMSELVES just how good we are!  Seeing us perform might just do the trick.  Often times, the decision to join a group like us takes time to consider all of the options and competing factors in our lives. So the bottom line is that RECRUITING NEVER STOPS!!

Oh, and in case you were wondering, our records show that this year we had 37 new members join us!!  We had another 36 folks express an interest in us but were not able to come aboard this year....but you never know about next year!  Special thanks to Veva, our registrar, for keeping track for us.

Recruiting is not a one-shot deal.  Just that one extra contact may make the difference in one's decision to become a Rounder.  We need your help....ALWAYS!!!

This and That...

For our Osceola Rehearsal on Tuesday...please park in front of the school in the south parking lot and walk in to the front of the school  Someone will be there to direct you to the auditorium.  We start promptly at 7:00 p.m.  Bring all music and your LYRE and arrive a few minutes early...if you can. Directions to Osceola High School are at the link on top of this E-Mail!

For our next two performances...please remember that "White white shoesShoes" means "White Shoes." Your Rounders Shoes need to be pure white with no other marks on them at all...no exceptions! If yours aren't...you stand-out in a not so positive way. We had a few too many Rounders "stand out" at Tattoo and Chasco for the wrong reasons!! Thanks!

Refunds for the Hernando Desoto Parade Bus (April 30) will be made at the April 19 rehearsal at Osceola High School between 6:00 and 6:45pm.  Some people have opted to simply make that a donation to the band, which is most gratefully accepted and appreciated!  Your Rounders were unable to rent any buses for this Parade because April 30 is also Grad Night for Florida High School Seniors and all the buses are rented!!  Fortunately, this isn't much of a drive and we will also announce a giant Car Pooling effort at Tuesday's rehearsal!

Don't forget the mandatory Calgary mini "Band Camp" comingband camp up Saturday, May 12th at Admiral Farragut 8:30 am-11:30 am. We will learn the entire Calgary show that day...so please plan on attending!

Please help keep your Rounders "healthy" with our operating expenses. We have received this season several registration forms without the recommended donation. Please mail your donation with your name and member number to: Rounders Registration PO Box 15062 St. Petersburg, FL 33733. Thank you!
