| Light the Candle! | |
Packets will again be available for Fundraising with Yankee Candle at this rehearsal. Your assistance in raising funds for the Rounders externally through programs such as this make the band less dependent on member donations toward meeting expense.
Selling even 1-2 candles to neighbors and friends will help. Thanks for taking another look. Light the candle! |

Greetings!
What a fantastic start to the season last Tuesday. It was great to see you all again, meet some of our NEW Rounders, and listen to the start of that fantastic Rounders sound!
In regard to this Tuesday's rehearsal at the Colisieum...some of you thought that rehearsing the
| | Bill Findeison |
Thriller Zombie Dance at a time when mourners MIGHT be exiting the Coliseum as part of the tribute to St. Pete Police Officer David Crawford is not appropriate. We agree.
As plans at the Coliseum for this Tuesday progress, Coliseum managers tell us that the gathering COULD be over as early as 6:00 PM. So Rounders, here is what we are looking to do:
If and only if the gathering for Officer Crawford is complete by 6:00 PM as it might be...we WILL rehearse the Thriller Dance this Tuesday...but INSIDE the Coliseum, not in the parking lot as pr eviously announced. We ask that you still arrive by 6:15 PM, if you can, to participate. We will NOT hold the Thriller dance part of our rehearsal this Tuesday if the gathering for Officer Crawford is not complete by 6:00 PM.
Why is the Thriller Dance rehearsal so important?
These few but precise dance moves are an integral part of our Rounders show. Done well...it will bring-d own-the-house when we perform this season. Done without the needed accuracy and precision required of every single Rounder performing the same precise move at the same time...well, you get the picture (and it won't be a pretty one).
In greater sensitivity to the gathering for Officer Crawford we WILL alter our plans as above. PLEASE try to make it 6:15 on the likely chance that we will move forward with the Thriller Zone...INSIDE the Coliseum. Our thoughts and prayers go out to the family and friends of Officer Crawford.
See you Tuesday at the Coliseum in St. Pete!

| More from the "Thrill Zone" | | |
An integral part of our show this season is the Thriller Zombie Dance as part of Michael Jackson's Thriller. Done well, and in the precision required, it will bring-down- the house! Every Rounder will need to make the same moves, at the same time, and in unparallel unity for a truly inspiring performance!
If you haven't yet learned the Thriller Drill -- be sure to log onto the Rounders web site for lessons at home! Once you log to the secure member profile, the link is the top one, next to "View Thriller Videos."
Here is a direct link to Part 1 of the Thrill Drill (there are 3 parts total).
Zombie Dance Part One!
Also, for more fun, join your fellow Rounders at the back of the Coliseum early before each rehearsal (6:15) to put the finishing touch on your routine! Auxiliary members will be available to train and perfect our dance steps! |
| Are You Uniformed?? | | |
New members -- check the web site for details about our official Rounders uniform, and plan to see Susan Bingham before rehearsal at her uniform table at the front of the Coliseum. Susan will outfit you with your Rounders shirt and hat...and coach you as to your Blue "Dockers Style" pants and all white shoe needs. Again, see the website for more detail!
Returning Rounders, you may want an extra shirt or details about ordering the optional Rounders jacket, Calgary t-shirt, etc. ... photos & order forms are on-line, too. See Susan at the Rounders uniform table!

|
| Are You in Attendance?? | | | As we continue our 2011 season...the topic of attendance remains on our minds.
The Rounders are an amazing organization made up of unique individuals from many walks of life. You are a "volunteer" here because you love this organization and because of your love of playing music. We want you here...en masse...as one of the many things that make our Rounders so unique is our combination of size and quality.
Being said...we have such a short time together in rehearsal toward placing this quality product on the Street. Each rehearsal builds on the last toward perfecting not only the notes, but also any cuts, tempo changes, dynamic needs, and intonation
challenges that left un-checked, will deteriorate the quality of our sound and performance.
On the Street...our minimal marching practice(s) need each individual member to focus on the difference between left-right-left and right-left-right; as well as your 4-st ep spacing and your alignment with your center-guide. There is a lot to perfect in just a few short rehearsal hours.
In years past...we have had members come to perform after only attending a rehearsal-or-two. This is a Director's nightmare. Your creative staff needs to take a hard-stance on attendance this year, and in subsequent years, toward placing the highest quality, largest-sized performing group possible in front of the community.
So...what is policy?
First...we recognize that you are a volunteer...and Thank You! But to perform as a Rounder, we ask that you plan to be at 100% of the rehearsals. Rehearsals are scheduled WELL in advance as a guide for you to work around and plan for. "Stuff" happens...and if your circumstances see you missing one rehearsal, we'll look the other way (as we know you'll be practicing hard as make-up!). Unfortunately...if you find yourself needing to miss two, we do want you back as a Rounder and look forward to your participation the following year. Simple enough?
As for our performances. We've chosen key events this season to highlight your talents and the ever infamous Rounders Sound! All of our rehearsals and social interaction large just leading-up to these key events. Whether it be our "local" gigs in St. Pete...or the largely attended Chasco Parade in New Port Richey; performances are mandatory with very few exceptions.
We want you there...and, frankly, need you there at each and every event as what would the Rounders be without YOU anyway?
So as we start 2011...have fun, enjoy the camaraderie, come to rehearsal, and come to each performance. This is part of what keeps this organization (YOUR organization) successful and keeps the community wanting more.
Best!
Your Rounders Board and Creative Staff.

|
| Bored? Run for the Board! | | |
Your Rounders are an AMAZING organization to belong to and perform with. Our short time together each season is made possible by much planning and hard work by both your Rounders Creative Team and Rounders Board in the months leading up to the season.
Each season our Rounders Board seeks new team members to replace those whose term have come to an end. Terms are typically three years with newer members needing to have performed with the Rounders at minimum the past two seasons to be eligible.
The Rounders Board meets year round once per month toward keeping your Rounders vibrant...and we need YOU!
If you are interested in the continued success of your Second Time Arounders, please contact Melissa Mince at mgmcat@tampabay.rr.com for consideration of nomination for election.
Help keep your Rounders "Spinning" along! |
