Downtown Lincoln
Association "Keeps It Green" By Installing Recycling Containers Downtown
DLA is pleased to announce the installation of new recycling
containers in downtown Lincoln. The
first of fifty containers was installed on January 9th outside the Sharp Building on 13th and "N" streets. The remaining dark blue recycling
containers will be located throughout the downtown area, labeled with a
universal recycling symbol and DLA's website, www.downtownlincoln.org, to visit for
more information.
The recycling containers have a dark blue exterior to blend in with the downtown landscape and
differentiate from the existing green and black refuse containers. The new containers have a small circular
opening which will take plastic bottles and aluminum cans. The DLA Maintenance
crew, with the help of the Community Alternatives of Nebraska, will pick up,
sort and distribute the materials to a recycling vendor. read on....

ProjectRoom Shows off Nebraska's Artists
Back in February of 2007 the owner of ProjectRoom, Craig Roper,
saw the potential the Parrish Project and what it could offer to the diverse, creative and
entrepreneurial downtown community. Located on the
second floor of 1410 & 1416 O
Street, ProjectRoom is one of the many businesses
and studios that have filled up the second floor. Roper liked the funky rawness
the space had to offer because of the freedom he had to do as much or as little as he
wanted to the room.
After their opening on April of 2008, ProjectRoom has seen most of their turnout on First Fridays, which
Roper believes is becoming a significant culture boost for the downtown area. Roper has high expectations of the hard
working artists in Nebraska
and loves to give them the recognition they deserve. He likes to present
dynamic new work by established and emerging artists in an environment of
collaboration, diversity and risk. ProjectRoom recently began a two-month long
installation of photo-based work by artists Natalie Linstrom and Sheila
Talbitzer.
Currently, ProjectRoom is open on Saturday from noon to 4 p.m. and on the First
Friday of every month from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m..
Roper is always willing to accommodate appointments as well. For more information, or to peek into the talent of ProjectRoom's art, visit www.projectroom.us or email them at info@projectroom.us
