Welcome to Downtown Lincoln
Greetings!
Thank you for your interest in
Downtown Lincoln. As President of the Downtown Lincoln Association, I am
excited to launch DLA's first ever
e-newsletter. With your help in DLA's online poll, we were able to
find a name for the new e-newsletter: The Downtown Connection.
Connecting, after all, is what Downtown Lincoln is all about. The
information and interactivity of this on-going communication medium will allow
you to be up-to-date on all on things downtown. I encourage you to stay
connected with downtown by subscribing and forwarding The Downtown Connection
to friends and family; however, it is just as easy to unsubscribe as well, by
clicking on the link at the bottom of the e-newsletter.
Thanks for your interest in Downtown Lincoln,
Terry Uland, President

Receptacles Keep Sidewalks Clean
Cigarette receptacles can be spotted throughout downtown and have shown to be very useful for sidewalks and streets. According to DLA Maintenance Director George Pinkerton, "the more receptacles used in a specific area is directly related to a cleaner sidewalk, which makes it easier to keep downtown clean and attractive." Receptacles are $200 but a grant allows them to be
sold for $120 installed or $100 not installed. Orders are being taken now by contacting Harry Heafer at the Keep Lincoln & Lancaster County Beautiful Program, 441-8035 or hheafer@lincoln.ne.gov. The grant is from the Litter Reduction & Recycling Fund managed by the Nebraska
DEQ. Receptacles are available to any business anywhere in town but an
emphasis is placed on the downtown area due to the concentration of people,
restaurants and bars.

Two 64
Lincoln's
latest men's retail shop has hit the streets of Downtown Lincoln in
the Stuart building on 144 N. 13th Street. Owner Matt Johnson has added a unique store to the area, which is a benefit to downtown by offering an original array of clothes and accessories. Two64 offers brands such as 10 DEEP, ALIFE, WeSC, MISHKA and CLAE to name a few. To learn more about what Two64 has to offer call 441-0195 or visit their website at twosixtyfour.com.
Billy Browns Ordinary Grill
9 South
Chargrill owner Brett Richardson has found a home for his new restaurant in downtown
Lincoln. Located at 1422 O Street, Billy Brown's will offer an American dining
experience similar to 9 South Chargrill's, with the addition of several
appetizer options, special vegetarian burgers and seafood choices. Billy Brown's also recognizes the lunch time
needs of many downtown workers by offering separate lunch and dinner
menus. The restaurant should be ready to serve in the coming weeks.
Holyland Cuisine
Lincoln's
authentic Middle Eastern restaurant has opened a second location downtown at 1311 O Street. With
a wide range of entrees, chef and owner Yahya Forhan ensures diners a unique experience by
offering items such as Halal meals and Baklava desserts. Click here to see Holyland Cuisine's full menu options.
Sandwich Shuffle
Two neighboring sandwich shops have recently expanded
their horizons downtown. Subway has left
its location next to neighbor Jimmy Johns and moved across the street to 1317 O Street
into the old Taco Del Mar spot. Jimmy Johns will remain in its current
location at 101 N. 14th Street but expand into Subway's vacated
space. Both restaurants have a large and growing customer base, so the move and
expansion allow for a much needed increase in seating capacity.
