Greetings!
The summer is already upon is and we're hearing good things from our customers about the buying of wines from tasting room visitors, purchases are on the increase. Lets hope the industry stays somewhat immune from the economy.
We're also hearing that automating and relying on technology is a must for the current marketplace. We have many tools to assist. If you haven't upgraded your POS system from the version 10, now is the time.

SmartPOS (Cash Register Express and Restaurant Pro Express) version 12 has available the full integration of ShipCompliant, the market leading shipping compliance company. The integration is "real time" /interactive with each transaction. There are no fees by WineWare Software for using the ShipCompliant integration but there are fees from ShipCompliant for their services. CRE has been fully "certified" by ShipCompliant. They can be contacted at 888-449-5285 (MST) for their services. Of course, you will have to go through their training before you can use our integration.
Here's how it works - so simple, as it should be. When a sale is completed, just attach a customer to the sale. Then you will see a "not shipped" button on the main invoice screen. Just select that button, select your customer, then conclude the payment of the transaction. In the background, it will access ShipCompliant's web services, indicate if it is compliant and if so, will conclude the sale. If it is not compliant you will receive a message and you can select to either "force" the sale or cancel the sale. Everything happens automatically in the POS system.
Print UPS, Fedex or other labels! As a bonus with our integration, you can select your shipper (UPS, Fedex or other carrier) and print the shipping label through the integration. Quite an attractive add-on feature.
The setup and configuration is only a few steps. Call sales and we can send you the sample screen shots for the setup and operation. If you are not on the most current version of CRE or RPE, there may be an upgrade fee. Obviously, CRE version 10 would need to be upgraded to use this software.
This is a great tool and takes the worries out of any liability for shipping to any state. The ShipCompliant folks have a large research team that constantly updates the shipping laws and regulations related to shipping wine.

POS Kiosk (Guest Book) available!
A POS Kiosk (electronic Guest Book) connected directly to Cash Register Express and Restaurant Pro Express is now available for CRE/RPE version 12. The POS Kiosk is fully customizable where you can use any background, ask various questions, and choose your font, type style, size and color. Has yes/no or check mark question capabilities too. It can even capture credit card data if you so desire. Certain data fields can be required such as a name, email address and telephone number. We provide a template and you fill in the blanks and choices of what you want to capture and how you want it to appear in your Guest Book.

As we all know, visitors to the tasting room are potential long-term customers and potential wine club members. Having a tool that can capture the customer's data in the tasting room can be very "marketing" beneficial, especially since they enter the data for you. The kiosk data will be entered directly into your Customer data in CRE/RPE.

The POS Kiosk is a one-time license fee of only $395 and no annual fees. Please call for a demo of the POS Kiosk product anytime and begin to "avoid the scribble" with an electronic Guest Book. A computer is required and it is for use for those customers not having our wine club software, which includes a kiosk module.

Tech Tips
SmartClub: How do I perform a database Compact & Repair if my database is on a network? SmartClub performs a Compact & Repair on the SmartClub database every time the club software is launched (opened). We perform the Compact & Repair operation to correct or reset indexes in standard Microsoft database technologies. However, in a network and server environment, all stations must be closed for the Compact & Repair operation to be in effect. Best thing to do is close SmartClub on all stations except the main station (location of the database) or the server, then close SmartClub on the main station or server and relaunch the product for the Compact & Repair to be in effect.
CRE: How do I minimize the POS Window? In CRE/RPE Version 10 or 11+ you can minimize the log in or main invoice screen by selecting the Windows Key on your keyboard and the letter "D" (for Down). In Version 11+ you can move the main invoice window by double clicking in the upper left corner where is says Cash Register Express, this allows you to access other icons on your desktop.
