Time to Upgrade your SmartPOS/CRE
For those customers using the older Version 10 of CRE, we are now installing upgrades to Version 11.6+. Get in the queue with our tech support to schedule your upgrade.
This new version now includes integration with QuickBooks (QB). The interface is built-in and will communicate with your QB. Tying your POS to your accounting system gives you a better pulse on your business helping you make smarter business decisions. A few features and benefits of this interface:
- Sales totals export directly into QB with options for exporting tax totals, breakdown by payment methods, breakdown by credit card type and cost of goods sold
- Useful accounting information that is collected by by the POS does not need to be keyed a second time into QB
- Data is inserted directly into QB based on the account numbers you configure inside of the POS
A key feature when upgrading and using both SmartPOS/CRE and SmartLink is it is now real time. When you run your club an invoice will be passed and the inventory will be depleted when running credit; instead of when you conclude the wine club run.
We have documents that describe the "Benefits and Cost", "Comparison between V10 and V11, and "Upgrade Checklist". Call or send us an email and we will provide you the upgrade documents as well as an order form.
We welcome you to come by our office or remote into our computers for an eDemo of the new version.
We highly recommend you upgrade. Version 10 will continue to be supported, however, no further updates or patches will be available. In the event your database becomes corrupt or unusable, you will need to upgrade to the new version.
Stay tuned for future upgrades including integration to Ship Compliant and Internet Shopping Carts.

Gift Baskets for the Holidays

Everybody loves gift baskets especially when the gift is wine. You can make baskets with samples of red and white wine, a vertical of vintages, a desert wine with chocolates. Throw in some logo wine glasses or cork screw. Your customers will appreciate the opportunity to purchase your gift basket to give to a friend, family or business associate. You can make gift baskets in CRE by using the Kit Maintenance. When you sell the basket it does not deplete the basket from inventory but depletes the items in the basket from inventory - this is great inventory control.

Tech Tips
CRE: How can I easily input new wine releases in Inventory Maintenance? In Inventory Maintenance you have a "Duplicate" button, bring up the last vintage and touch the "Duplicate" button. You can then change the date vintage to your currently release. SmartClub: Changes are inevitable - how do I run a test wine club? Have you made changes to credit card processing (merchant services)? Changes to UPS (upgrades)? Changes to shipping services (now needing an Export of shipping data)? Added shipping compliance? Changes to anything that may affect SmartClub?
Many times we'll hear from customers after changes have been made to items that may be used by SmartClub, but it is usually after the changes have been made and now there are issues. We realize there will always be changes to operating environments and that changes will be made to other products and we do everything possible to keep upwardly compatible with 3rd party products such as new UPS versions. Changes are inevitable. With any changes to related SmartClub products and services, for your general piece of mind and to avoid issues in the next club run, we highly recommend you setup and run a test club. This will only take a few minutes and may save you many future headaches if testing your changes before your next actual club run.
To setup a Test Club. Go to SmartClub Utilities, setup a new Test Wine Club, add a Test Member Type, add a Test Wine for $1 (import if integrated with POS) and add a Test Member with a real credit card number. Don't add any shipping fees to this Test Club unless you want to test shipping fees. Then process your Test Wine Club as you would a regular club and monitor the results. What's that old saying, "measure twice and cut once." And don't forget to backup first. |
