Dear Notre Dame Families:
Thank you to all who have registered and completed the tuition agreement. It is very important that we get our families enrolled. Enrollment has an impact teacher contracts. Please reference the e-mail I sent out this past Friday about the enrollment process. If you have any questions or concerns regarding enrollment call me on my cell at 217-4684.
Exciting news about the lunch program!!! As many of you know there has been a committee researching ideas to make enhancements to the lunch program. I am pleased to announce the hiring of Jodi Danen. Jodi's role will be to plan lunches and advise the Notre Dame lunch program. Jodi has her Bachelor of Science Degree from Mount Mary College and have been practicing as a registered dietitian for the past 11 years. Most recently, Jodi has been teaching nutrition to small children through fun and educational cooking classes (through her small business Nutrition Explorers). Jodi asked me to share the following, "I am thrilled to be able to share my interest in child/adolescent nutrition with all the children at this school and hope to implement some great changes within our school lunch program. " Notre Dame is thrilled to welcome Jodi!!!
Parents with questions, concerns, or meal ideas/requests can contact Jodi at jodi.danen@yahoo.com or call at 983-9557 anytime between now and the next school year. Parents can also stop by the cafeteria on Tuesday or Thursday mornings between now and the end of the school year to meet Jodi. Watch for a survey to come before the end of the year looking for input on our lunch program. Jodi added, "I would love to have as many parents complete this survey to give me the best tools for planning this summer. " "I will also be surveying the 4th, 5th, 6th, and 7th graders to find out their views as well. "
Thank you to Mrs. Wolfram for chairing the "wellness" committee and all committee members for their hard work!!! Bon Appetite!
What are Common Core State Standards? I attended an all-day conference (sponsored by Grace) this past Tuesday about the "Common Core." The "Common Core" as they are often referred, are educational standards that have been adopted by forty-seven states (including Wisconsin) for grades K-12. Initially, the "Common Core" will start with Language Arts and Math and then be further implemented in Social Studies and Science. It is very exciting that Notre Dame of De Pere will have a curriculum based on detailed standards. While the "Common Core" have been around for the past few years, implementation will be a focus in the coming years. You can expect more information regarding the "Common Core."
Included is a brief note from the Connelly family (please support this wonderful ND family!):
May 1st, Tuesday, Dress Down Day for FA!
Hello Parents and Students,
May 1st, Tuesday, is National Fanconi Anemia Day! Fanconi Anemia is a rare genetic disorder that affects our son Evan, in Mr. Six's fourth grade class, and our youngest daughter Becca. Please help us spread awareness for the need of better bone marrow transplant outcomes, preventative cancer care and research to find a cure for this disease by dressing down this Tuesday. A dollar is not needed as all of you help Evan to celebrate his life each day. Still, if you are so inclined to donate to our cause, please just send it with your child knowing that we are so very grateful. For more information: www.fanconi.org or www.caringbridge.org/evanconnelly/visit
With sincere gratitude for all you mean to us and do for our family, Kim and John Connelly
