January 12, 2012

Dear Notre Dame Families:

First, I want to make all of you aware of a calendar change.  We are adding an early release day on Thursday, April 5th.  School will be dismissed at 11:30 A.M.  The change is being made to accomodate an added in-service day for teachers/staff.  Please mark your calendars!

Please note that we are at fast approaching the mid-point of the tri-mester (Friday, January 13th).  Check in with your children to see how they are doing!

This Friday will be Packer Spirit day! You may wear jeans. Please make sure they are neat.  Even though we will be attending mass we do not want your holy jeans.  Bring a dollar to wear your spirit gear.

Catholic Schools Week is Jan. 28th - Feb. 5th.  The theme for 2012 is: Faith. Academics. Service.  Join us in Faith, as all of the Notre Dame Community--students, parents, teachers and alumni -- join together in celebrating the Holy Mass together on Sat. Jan. 28th at 4:30 p.m. (St. Mary Catholic Community) or Sun. Jan. 29th at 9:00 a.m. (St. Francis Xavier). In addition to praying together you are welcome to participate actively as altar servers, readers, eucharistic ministers, gift bearers, ushers, musicians and N.D. Family Representatives.  To find out more and to sign up please go to:
www.SignUpGenius.com/go/20F0E4EA5AB2CAB9-catholic .

In addition to praying as a community, our N.D. Families are also invited to Serve. There will be two opportunities for families to participate in service.  The first is in donating goods throughout the week to the Souper Bowl of Caring and the second is in praying the Rosary with the residents at the McCormick Nursing Home.  The Rosary opportunity will be Jan. 30th - Feb. 3rd, 4:30 p.m. at the McCormick Nursing Home.  To find out more and to sign up please go to: http://www.SignUpGenius.com/go/60B0A44ADA6283-pray.

Notre Dame will be hosting an open house/breakfast on January 29th to say thank you to the parishes and show off our school to prospective students.  The open house will be after masses on the 29th and will run from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.  The Notre Dame teachers will be there to greet and answer questions. Tell your friends or better yet bring them to mass and the open house: Openhouse

Just a reminder for the those interested in helping the Notre Dame alumni reunion, the first planning meeting is in Dolski Center on Thursday January 12th from 6:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.  Learning RX will be presenting a free parent informational meeting on January 17th at the Dolski Center from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. Please rsvp to Jenny at the elementary school or Elisa at the middle school.  For more information on the presentation click on the Learning RX link below.

Show your Notre Dame pride!  The "We've Got Spirit" t-shirts are available to purchase and they come in sizes: Adult Small to Adult XL.  They are $8.00 for one or $14.00 for two!  You may purchase them in the Elementary School Office.

There will be a blessing by Fr. Patrick of Religious items at the Friday, January 13th 8:30 mass.   Bring your rosaries/crosses/other religious items.

You can help Notre Dame with the "Labels for Education" program.  Click here for more details: Labels for Education
