Greetings!
Victoria & Chris's wedding ceremony hijinks had our wedding team gasping and laughing for days after we saw this video. Sometimes the natural stress of wedding planning can be diffused with lighthearted fun from well meaning family & friends so keep in mind their intentions when it happens to you.

Victoria Doe & Christopher Mello
Regatta Place
For Victoria and Christopher, it all started at the beach. While working at the Atlantic Beach Club in Middletown the summer after college, the hostess and the parking lot attendant locked eyes and "that was it." "Our first date was a trip to a Journey concert," Vicki says. Three years to the day later, "Chris proposed on the lifeguard chair at Easton's Beach where we shared our first kiss."
The local couple stayed close to home for their beachy chic soiree, settling on Regatta Place the moment the salt air hit their noses. "Many people come to Newport hoping for a view of the Newport Bridge," Vicki says. "The casual elegance of the dock, beautiful tent and gorgeous harbor views made Regatta Place an easy favorite." Walking down the aisle as a mega yacht bobbed next to her on the dock, Vicki shined in a strapless A-line Rivini gown, with tiers of exquisite French lace. The dock proved a little tricky once Vicki made it to the altar. Chris had previously joked with his brother and best man, Brian, about making sure to not drop the band through the dock. "Naturally, in true brotherly spirit, during the ceremony, Brian fooled everyone by dropping a washer through the dock," Vicki laughs. "We had quite the scare! But luckily it wasn't the diamond wedding band."
Fears allayed, the couple and their wedding party sped into the harbor aboard a 43-foot sport boat to celebrate Newport-style before the reception. Roses, hydrangeas, celosia, dahlias and more bright flowers made up the bridesmaids' bouquets and the table centerpieces with hues of red, pink, orange and touches of green, while the groomsmen also donned pink and orange socks for a festive splash of color. The couple's new monogram, embroidered on a flag, flapped in the breeze on the flag pole.
After dancing into the night to guess who, Journey, the Mellos jet-setted to a private resort in Costa Rica. They now reside in Bristol.-AS

Cupcakes, that is!
In our past e-newsletters we introduced you to some of the latest food trends being served at wedding reception tables. What we didn't mention was that the traditional dinner menus aren't the only items being traded in for finger-foods and other fun dining options.
We all know that no party, and especially no wedding, is complete without dessert. But if you find yourself looking around for the traditional white tiered cake, you might have to broaden your scope, and your taste-buds. Opting out of the typical wedding cake, more and more couples are instead truly customizing their big day to their liking and picking out desserts that they want to eat and share with friends and family. Guests are finding themselves selecting from platters of chocolate covered fruits and towers of truffle assortments instead of slicing into slivers of cake. And when it does come to cakes, colorful designs are replacing the typical white frosting and various flavors are filling in for the classic fruit between the layers.
At Newport's 10th Annual Bridal Show in February, we have vendors showcasing everything from cake balls to cupcakes, chocolate fondue fountains, and Italian pastries to Italian ices (or Ben and Jerry's ice-cream, to be exact).
The concept of tailoring tastes and enhancing flavors is what this delicious trend is all about. So when you're planning your wedding, remember it's your day and that gives you the right to celebrate with your favorite foods and taste your ideal desserts. Your guests will marvel at how well Champagne complements chocolate-covered strawberries! ~NM
