Dear Friends,

Wow, what an exciting start to the year! It started off with traveling to Charleston, South Carolina, for the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition and then from there to Tulsa, Oklahoma, for a gallery visit and demo at Lovetts Gallery and an exhibit at the 2010 NatureWorks show. Since returning to the studio, Robert has been elevated to a Signature Member of the Society of Animal Artists, and has the honor of having three of his pieces chosen for three of most prestigious wildlife art exhibitions in the country.

Southeastern Wildlife Exposition

As mentioned earlier, the year started off with a trip down to Charleston, South Carolina, for the Southeastern Wildlife Exposition. "I love to visit the city of Charleston," Robert says. "The possibilities for paintings are almost endless!" Besides exhibiting his latest work, talking to collectors and visiting friends, Robert is pretty certain that he has two solid painting ideas from his South Carolina trip. In fact, one of Robert's favorite graphite drawings, "Quiet Tide," resulted from his first visit to Charleston several years back.

Lovett's Gallery

Shortly after Robert's return from Charleston, he packed up and left Virginia, this time for Tulsa. Robert had his first gallery appearance and painting demonstration at Lovetts Gallery. During the all-day demo, where he worked on the beginning stages of "Ramsey's Porch," Robert streamed the session live over the Internet. "What an experience! I was painting in this beautiful gallery, surrounded by a group of people and answering questions from the people in the gallery and from around the world!"

NatureWorks Wildlife Art Show & Sale

Robert followed up his gallery visit with an exhibit at the 2010 NatureWorks Show. He thoroughly enjoys traveling to and exhibiting in this show. This year Robert drove sculptor Paul Rhymer's truck and trailer to Tulsa with both artists' work in tow. One of Paul's signature pieces is the back and head of an almost life-size hippo surfacing from the water with a bird on its back. The sculpture rode in the open bed of the pickup truck, where passers-by could easily spot it. "That had to be the funniest travel trip of my life," Robert says. "I can't tell you how many people zoomed by the truck, slowed up, did a double take, got the cell phone camera out, took the picture and drove off smiling!"
