PCS Logo 2PCS Friday Facts
November 18, 2011

Greetings!

Last Saturday was an amazing event as PCS had its first float entered into the Ajax parade!  I would like to personally thank all of the volunteers who prepared the float and those who walked alongside of it to hand out the gifts.  I also want to thank Miss DePass and the drum line team who did an inspiring job on the music end.

We are entered in the Whitby parade on December 3rd, from 10:00 a.m. to noon. There will be refreshments served back at the school for any families who wish to come back after the parade.

As a reminder, these parades, as well as the special assembly on Friday, December 23rd, at 2:15 pm, are the Christmas activities for PCS. There is no evening event this year. Since we have had an evening concert for the past 3 years, we thought we would change things a bit for this year.

I pray the joy of this season will be felt in every household,

Yours in His Service,

P.D. Ogborne, Ed.D.

Pick-Up Reminder

Just a reminder that Grade 7/8 and Arrowsmith students are dismissed at 3:30 p.m.  If you arrive early, please park in the parking lot until 3:30 p.m. and then proceed into the driving circle.  This gives the parents of students who are dissmissed at 3:15 p.m. a chance to pick-up their children and helps keep the circle moving quickly.  You may also park in the front lot and walk through the school to get your children.  Please do not walk through the parking lot to the back yard.  Remember to drive slowly through the parking lot.  Thank you for helping to keep the pick-up procedure efficient and safe.

Important Information
  • Picture retake day is on Wednesday, November 23, 2011, in the morning.  If your child requires a retake please send in the picture indicating a retake and have them come dressed in full school uniform, which includes black bottoms (pants, skirt or skort) and white oxford/tapered dress shirt.
  • Before and After School Club's closing will be earlier at 5:00 p.m. and not 6:00 p.m. on Friday, December 23, 2011, the last day of school before Christmas break.
Interviews
The parent/teacher interviews will be scheduled over 2 days.  There will be time slots available on the evening of Thursday, December 8th, beginning at 4:00 p.m., with the last appointment at 7:40 p.m.  There are also time slots on Friday, December 9th, beginning at 8:00 a.m., with the last appointment at 2:00 p.m. (for Junior Kindergarten to Grade 6).  On Friday, December 9th, there will be no school.  The whole day has been set aside for interviews.  If you can come during the day, please use the time slots on Friday, leaving the evening hours for the families with both parents working.  Please call the office to book your 15-minute appointment.  The Grade 7/8 interviews will occur in the gym and the teachers are seen on a rotation basis.  The time slots are divided into hour slots with space for 6 families.

Children at Parent/Teacher Interviews
If at all possible, please do not bring your children to the parent/teacher interviews. We do not have extra supervison available to watch your children.  If you have no other choice, your child can sit quietly outside the classroom while you are in the interview.  If your interview is scheduled during the regular "Before and After School Club" hours (3:45 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.), you may leave your children there, but you will be charged the normal Before and After School Club fee.

Last week we re-launched our website.  When you have a moment be sure to take a look.  We have updated our calendar so that various events are colour coded and provide more details.  We have also added a "quick - button" for parents and visitors.  The "Parents" quick - button currently provides you with quick links to forms, past Friday Facts and important articles/news.  In the futurre we hope to provide access to online versions of weekly classroom take homes and home work lists to mention just a few ideas.  We also have added quick and easy links so that you can add/follow us on Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn.  If you have any questions or some suggestions please feel free to forward them to Mr. David Park at dpark@pickeringcs.on.ca
