October 21, 2011

Greetings!

This year, for a change, Christmas activities will look different at PCS.  We will be entering a float in the Ajax Parade (the evening of November 12, 2011) and Whitby Parade (date to be confirmed).  Our theme is "Little Drummer Boy" and it will display not only the nativity scene but also our senior drumline corps.  What an excellent way to promote Christmas and the school.  We will be looking for assistance in building the float as well as "walkers" who can give out items to the crowds.

On Friday, December 23, 2011 we will have a Christmas breakfast time for parents. Special activities will permeate the day for the students. Baking, craft making, games and class activities will highlight the holiday season.  There will be an assembly from 1:00  p.m. - 2:15 p.m. that will raise the roof in song and celebration.

Look for a more detailed agenda in the Friday Facts in December.Parents are welcome for breakfast, assembly and if you want to help in the Christmas celebration stations.

Yours in His Service,

Picture Day

Life Touch will be coming to the school on Monday, October 31, 2011, to take the school photos.  Please note that students need to come dressed in full uniform that day - which includes black bottoms (pants, skirt or skort) and white oxford/tapered dress shirt.  If your child is away that day, there will be a retake date set for later. Please send in the forms from Life Touch for choice of background for the portraits.

Money

Cross Country
Last Wednesday, our cross country team competed in the ACSI Cross Country Meet at Simeon Park in Gormley.  Even the threat of rain and cold weather could not keep our team down!  The results will be posted once they are in.  A very special thank you to all the parents who came and cheered on the runners.
Illness
Outdoor Recess

Now that colder weather has arrived, this is a reminder of our school policy on going out for recess."Unless the illness is related to exposure to the outside air (i.e. severe asthma), it is school policy that all students will be asked to go outdoors for recess and lunch" (page 20 in Parent/Student Handbook). We do not have enough supervision to keep students in their class over recess/lunch.

"It is the school's position that if your child is sick enough to be kept indoors, that usually means they should be kept at home."  Page 20 in the Parent/Student Handbook.

Grandparent's Day
Just a reminder that students are to come dressed in full uniform that day which includes black bottoms (pants, skirt or skort) and white oxford/tapered dress shirt.
