Lunch Policy on Lunches That are Forgotten

"When we call....it's your call."

With a forlorn gaze, students will come into the office and request to use the phone to get someone to bring their forgotten lunch.  The puppy-like eyes melt the staff's heart and we have, in the past, let them phone home.  In reflection, this places working parents in a difficult situation as they try to arrange for nourishment for their child.

So, if a child forgets their lunch and reports it to the office, a staff member will call you for one of these decisions.

  1. It's ok to let them learn a lesson;
  2. I'll be there shortly with it; or
  3. Can you supply an apple and drink, supper is only a few hours away.

If we cannot reach you, PCS will choose option 3.

Yours in His Service,
P.D. Ogborne, Ed.D.

Walkathon
Walkathon
The Rain Held Off

We had a wonderful time on the Walkathon.  Everyone enjoyed fresh air and exercise.  Thank you to all the drivers who checked in on the students and the wonderful volunteers who provided water and oranges at the water stations to keep the students going.  Many thanks also to all the parents who took up the challenge to walk with the students.  Your help was greatly appreciated.

We are still looking for regular updates from the students as to how much they have raised to date, so we can continue to update their classroom tally sheets. The school goal is $40,000 and we are just about at the halfway mark, sitting just under $20,000.  If each student were able to raise an average of $150 to $200 each, the school would be able to meet our ultimate goal.  Keep up the great work!

Please return the following forms by the date indicated:

  • Family Summary Form: Monday, October 17, 2011
  • Tax Receipt Request Form: Monday, October 17, 2011
Food and Beverage Program

We are in the process of streamlining the Beverage and Food Program.  There are a few things that we are asking parents to do in order to help the program run smoother.

  1. Please return both food and beverage order forms in the folder.  If you are not ordering please check off the " Not Participating" box and return the forms.
  2. Return folders to your child's classroom, not the office.
  3. Include the exact payment when sending back the folders.
  4. Return folders by due date!  Late orders cause an incredible amount of extra work and orders can be missed.
  5. We are not equipped to accommodate last minute walk-ins for Friday Hot Lunches.
  6. If your child is not receiving their beverage, please contact the office in order that we can fix the problem.

Thank you for your help to insure the program runs smoothly.

GGrandparent's Dayrandparent's Day
Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Please remember to invite your grandparents, special friends, neighbours, Sunday school teachers, or relatives, for Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day.  The important thing is to try to have someone special here for your child. Our preference is that parents not be the special visitor (unless no others can come), and we ask that no "little ones" attend this morning. Our desire is that the focus be on our students.  There will be a program in the gym at 9:00 a.m., visits in the classrooms at 10:25 a.m. and soup and rolls at 11:30 a.m. for grandparents and special friends only.

There are two forms for Grandparents'/Special Friends' Day coming home today:

  • Two copies of an Invitation/Registration form for grandparents or special friends to complete and return prior to Friday, October 21st.
  • A Permission Form to be completed by parents to allow grandparents or special friends to take students out for lunch.  Please return this form to the school by Friday, October 21st.
Jewels for Jesus & W.I.N.G.S.
Mrs. Cora Tyler-Partridge is organizing a collection of gently used winter clothing, jackets, snow pants, boots, hats and gloves for Jewels for Jesus.  This organization runs an outreach program called the "Care Cupboard" which provides clothing, toys, diapers and formula/baby food for families in crisis in the GTA.   If you have any items you would like to donate, please bring them into PCS by Friday, October 28th.

She is also collecting baby things for W.I.N.G.S., which is a local ministry in Ajax that provides a home for pregnant homeless young women.
